Re: DOLLAR'S VAULT
It's been a bit but I have a little more to show on the Phantom. Got some topside Light Gull Gray on and the Gloss White on the bottom and all the under wing stuff. I still have to mask and paint the nose and all the burnt metal on the back end but it's moving along slow but sure.
Thanks for looking

Thanks Nigel!
I got some time while paint dries, so I weathered the interiors of the u/c doors
Yes it is Sir T, about 14 inches long and a wingspan of 10 ".

Sweet looking build so far. I am glad you persevered with it after the paint issues.
All the best.

Re: Dollar's Vault
There's nothing quite like the classic lines of a Phantom! Looking good so far; nice attention to detail with the U/C door red lining
Best wishes

I am an unashamed Phantom Phan, my eyes only see beauty in the lines of the aircraft, none of that heathen "double ugly" stuff from me Did you suffer a bit of paint lift caused by the masking tape there, Greg?
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

No paint lift issues at all so far.ShaunW wrote:I am an unashamed Phantom Phan, my eyes only see beauty in the lines of the aircraft, none of that heathen "double ugly" stuff from me Did you suffer a bit of paint lift caused by the masking tape there, Greg?
The problem was getting sufficient coverage. It's been like a monsoon season here. We've had rain and thunder storms every day for the past 12 or 13 days. The humidity plus as near as I can tell, a bottle of bad paint, had me ready to throw it in the trash.
I did everything right, pressure, well mixed and thinned, it was like spraying clear varnish. Lots of carrier no pigment. By the time I got the color built up it looked very thick. Then it just would not dry! Took nearly a week but it finally did. It looks better and not as thick, it seems to have settled with drying. So I'm moving on with it. If it looks like poo after it's done my 4 year old grandson will love it no matter.
Got a little more done today. I would have done more but my daughter and grandson invited us to go boating........
Sit at home or hit the lake? I really struggled with that decision.
Maybe more to show tomorrow......

You are doing some great work here and I'm sure this is going to look very impressive once finished. What I took to be paint lift I think is in fact your room lights shining on the paint

Re: Dollar's Vault
That's what you are seeing Shawn. I really gobbed it it up using gloss paint. 1- I had the paint. 2- thought I'd get ahead of the game and not have to go back and do a gloss coat for decals. 3- trying to take pictures of it inside under my bench work light.
One thing I will say is I certainly learned my lessons on what not to do.
Thanks for the kind words. It will be impressive either way it turns out!
