That looks a nice set up, I hope you get on well with acrylic paints, they can be very rewarding but temperamental some of the time!
Best wishes

Nice compressor. Good luck with the new set-up. I swapped from enamels to acrylics a few years ago and haven't looked back.

Just some tinkering I did on this cold rainy Saturday. I have some very special plans for this one.

Wierd, I changed to acrylics a while back but I have found myself wandering back to trusty Humbrol enamels!

I still have my stock of Model Master, Humbrol and WEM colorcoats enamels. But I am going to try to go sparingly with them to stretch them as long as I can. Especially with Model Master phasing their enamels out.
Besides that I’m looking forward to trying something new.

Nice C119 in progress there. Enamels can last a very long time. I still have a few Airfix enamels that are perfectly usable. One trick I learned is after you seal the lid tip the tinlet upside down for a few seconds. This will form a seal and saves the paint from drying up.

All the best.

Thanks Greg! I’m not surprised you picked up on this one. Like you said enamels will last forever. For the foreseeable future I will be jumping back and forth with enamels and acrylics.
As for the ‘19, I’ll pick at it a bit and box it up and pick at it again. Been at it for 30 years so far. It’s taken me longer to build this kit than the actual plane had a career!

Now that it's on a very slow steady simmer for the next few hours, I'll get some time at the bench!

I did get to the bench today! and gave the new rig a test run. All new, new paint my first try at acrylics, new compressor, and the new spray booth. Hot damn I'm a happy boy!!
I pulled this old Monogram SB2C off the shelf of doom as a test mule and tried out my luck spraying with acrylics, and I'm sold on them. I did a lot of research on different brand and found this brand. It's call Bombshell Brew, and at $1.69 a bottle I figured what do I have to loose if I muck it up. They are pre thinned and ready to spray. Clean up was a snap too.
Anyway I had fun with everything this afternoon, which is usually not the case. I usually dread painting, all the mixing and thinning and the mess of cleaning the AB afterward. Not to mention the fumes. Yeah I'm HAPPY!

That paintwork looks excellent! Glad you are settling into acrylic paints easily, not everyone has such an easy transition unfortunately so you've done well!
Best wishes

Wow! That C-119 is looking fine inside.
Bombshell Brew, eh?
I am too invested to get out of enamels!

Cheers,

I've been away from the bench way too long. the holidays and family obligations and a general lack of mojo all combined to my lack of bench time. well today has seen an end to that. Just to get myself back in the frame of mind to build and to start using all the new toys I have, I brought this little guy out and got it started.
I think I paid about $4.00 for it. Not a complicated model with few parts, just what I need to get my feet back in the water.
