Is that the OOB kit cockpit - If so it's very good. Those old Monogram jets were superb.

Lovely work.

Regards

Stuart

Thanks fellas!
Mr.T yes that's the oob pit. It's very basic painting. Old style technique. Monogram really molded nice pits in their day.

Coming along very nicely Greg - a bit too big for my storage space but lovely work all the same. Do love those fifties jets.

I just knocked this out, spur of the moment. Nothing special. No after market goodies. Totally out of the box.

Just a bit of an up date on the Voodoo. I'm in no hurry to get this one done, I've been tinkering with it for 5 years or so.

I hate the open speed brakes on the ground so I just glued the panels over the wells and that was that.

I also spent some time on the landing flaps that Monogram insisted on molding in the down position. That they didn't really allow for a good glueing surface. My fear is I would be constantly fixing a lost flap. That and the nightmare of masking and spraying Insignia Red in there just didn't trip my trigger.
So after a considerable amount of hacking and gouging filing and sanding i got them into the full up position. Believe me the molded in detail is beautiful, but away it went.

That's where she stands today, there will be more as I get bench time.

Thanks for looking

Good progress. I don't blame you for doing that work, I'd have probably done the same - I'd much rather have a cleaned up aircraft.

Nice work getting the landing flaps closed. I'm a bit of a 'clean airframe' builder myself, and if more models came with stands I'd build a few in flight.

If any of you had followed along the Catalina build a couple of weeks ago, Then you'll know the compressor died on me. That build was fraught with errors and mishaps to say the least.
On to new things! Speaking of new things, I recently was able to purchase a new compressor. Instead of a hardware/home center shop compressor, I sprung for a Badger Aspire 910.

Now i can move the paint shop from the cold dark cellar up into the house. while its not silent, it is very quiet. Just a low purr that the missus won't object too. I'm really itching to give it a try, so Ive pulled out and old build that been gathering dust. I'm also going to be giving a try with acrylics. I've been an enamel guy all my life so this will also be my first attempt with a new paint. I'll throw up some pics of the result. Wish me luck!
