Migrant's Cabin
My previous Workbench Window now has 25 pages of 'Update your Photoucket' icons, since their decision to charge $400 a year for hot-linking So, I've abandoned the old Migrant's Cabin and have started this new thread, in which I'm using an alternative hosting site, Postimage.
I'll start by re-posting these pics of the Hasegawa 1/72 Mosquito, finished as Skut's aircraft from the Tintin 'Red Sea Sharks' book. Built for the 'One for the Books' GB.

A wonderful mossie, a great way to kickoff your new cabin.

That is superb Mossie, Mike, really fantastic work. I fear that I too will be starting a new WW thread. I'm most hacked off at Photobucket - much stronger language was used when I saw what they had done, but this is a family friendly forum - I used PB for years with no problems until last autumn when the site became incredibly slow to the point of being unusable. I use the postimage function on here now.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Great looking Mosquito, with a fine paint job
A start on my first kit a Hawker Hurricane as been made, a spitfire awaits in the wings and thinking about models to come.

Re: Migrant's Cabin 2017
Thanks guys!
There are several projects on the bench at the moment. First is this Tristar 1/35 Panzer 38(t). It's part of a group build between four of us local modellers, all building the same kit for a specified deadline. Anyone who doesn't finish has to buy dinner for the other three. I'm trying all kinds of techniques on this one and I've undoubtedly gone too far in some areas, but I'm really enjoying it. Not looking forward to the tracks though: 93 separate links on each side...
I blame Rob van Riel for this next subject, he posted an eggplane Phantom build and it caught my imagination, so I'm working on an Su-33 eggplane in a digital camo scheme (fortunately supplied as decals).
Also got the Mark 1 1/144 beaufighter to finish, here with an initial coat of primer. To be in desert camo.

Always fun to watch you work Mike.
Any chance you are going to attend the US Nats in Omaha?

Great builds Mike. Not s big fan of individual track links so will be watching.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

I really like your Mosquito from the Tintin stories. You may remember my Tintin Mosquito from the old forum. Yours look so much better. I guess you made the decals yourself? My decals were from Blue Rider and are crude compared to yours. Will these decals come available in your shop?

Re: Migrant's Cabin 2017
Thanks for the comment. I wasn't particularly impressed with the Blue Rider decals. For one thing they missed off the fuselage serials, despite showing them on the instructions. Also the Arabic script looked very crude compared to the calligraphic images in the book.bassman wrote:I really like your Mosquito from the Tintin stories. And finally, the roundels themselves seemed way oversize (almost 1/48 scale), again comparing to Hergé's illustrations.
I did end up making my own. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to sell them online without obtaining/paying for licensing. And since printing these my ALPS printer broke down so I'm no longer able to produce one-off sheets.

Re: Migrant's Cabin 2017
Thanks for the picture showing the Blue Rider decals next to your decals. What a difference. And you are right about not selling them as the Moulinsart company, owning the rights on Tintin, is always on the look out.
My next kit will be the yellow Tiger Moth from The Black Rocks, that one is easy enough with decals from Blue Rider.
