And a new project for 2018 - the superlative Tamiya Mosquito FB VI in 1/72. This will be aircraft four in the Normandie-Niemen project.

Image

Here are the engine nacelles and rear cockpit assembly, almost complete. I can't stress what a great kit this is - tbh it makes a welcome change after some of the old nightmares I've put together over the last year :) Nice.

I've heard and read great things about this 1/72 Tamiya Mossie kit, Spaceowl and I look forward to seeing it come together.

Progress - the cockpit assembly is complete (except for the gunsight, coming up soon):

All went together without fuss, much as you would expect with a Tamiya kit. I fear I'm starting to repeat myself.

That makes for a nice cockpit straight OOB, Spaceowl. I'm also enjoying building a Tamiya kit in the shape of their 1/48th '109E. It's been a while since I last built anything by Tamiya and I'd almost forgotten how good their kits can be.

Further progress:

note the ingenious use of spars to attach the wings - well done, Tamiya. A cursory dry fit suggests that this won't even need filler.

Getting to the crucial bit:

Image

Ready for a quick coat of clear and the decals. Please note that the actual model is medium sea grey, not a shade of pink as it looks in the photo - literally a trick of the light. It looks like plain sailing from here on (famous last words) apart from the two tricolour spinners I have to paint.
