Bissy´s House of Plastic Blunders.

Post by Bissyboat »

My first subject for the workbench. Italeri 1/48 C130J C5 Hercules. It´s a big bird with plenty of meat on the bones. Started this project this Spring on ATF. I like to share my developments to run you up to speed with what´s occurring.

The boxart. 8-)

Image

Cockpit assembled. Lots of panels with bits an bobs. Only two seats will be fitted inside the office. Not three seats like the older C130 models.

Image

Image

Long wings with nice weight.

Image

Cargo doors.

Image

The rudder where styrene meets the glue.

Image

Big tail wings.

Image

Auxillary fuel tanks.

Image

Belly of the beast. The cargo room dryfitted. lots of brushwork to be done inside.

Overhead control panels and supposedly monitors.

Image

Dryfitting the body of the cockpit and the cargo room.

Image

Main body of the Herc dry fitted. The big bird absorbs a lot of space.

My word that's a beast. Should be interesting watching your progress.

It´s enormous. 650 mm fuselage and over 750 mm on the wingspan. Thank you. There´s much more to come soon. ;-)

Thank you Andy. Yes. Indeed. It´s arguably one of my biggest undertakings as a modeler. More to come soon. ;-)

Certainly an overwhelming project, looking at the size. I have allocated space for it where she can spread her wings comfortably.

Next leg of the process. Interior painted inside the office with knobs and toggles on the panels and dashboard. Cargo floor detailed with black tracks and studs painted in chrome silver. More to come soon with more details inside the cargobay. ;-)

That's going to be a big bird, and it's all coming along very nicely too. Which scheme are you going for?
