Sorry, Jeff, there is a misunderstanding. I am not talking about the clear and matt coat. I am talking about why the plane has glass panels behind a

the cockpit of the real plane hence the model has clear parts but it is not a two-seater cockpit.

So why have glass panels over metal panels of the fuselage?

Michael modeller 48 wrote:Thank Jeff, I do see lines down the middle of the clear parts.

Not know anything about p-40 why is glass over top solid panels?? I did not see that in Pearl Harbor movie.

What are these clear panels suppose to be or do?
No worries, maybe i was having trouble clearly asking my question.

Thanks for your answer in the PM.

I bought some supplies for new kits to my stash:

Dark Yellow for Kubelwagen

Flat white for the winter scheme Where Eagle Dare and Light Blue (Luftwaffe) on the underside of the Ju-52

I thought i need putty for a gap in the nose of my p-40 and some masking tape (just in case).

I just can't seem to get on to the job of masking and sanding and painting my current build p-40.

I am too worried messing up the paint job and the clear parts. How to get back to enjoying the build and not the results. I tend to rush.....

I finally got to masking and painting the grey underside

I used Humbrol 64. this the first coat.* I wait 24 hours for another coat then mask for the brown and the camo green

*I remember to paint the underside of tail wings*

The top is green 116 and brown 119.

The underside came out well just one paint bleed on nose (the brown will cover than).

Masked and ready for brown camo coat!

Maybe did not stir the tinlet of paint enough, but this the first coat (wet) and a second coat will provide better coverage and eliminate brush stokes.

*You have to careful of the guns bending or breaking* since this kit is molded to the wings and not add after....

This is coming together very well, Michael. The P-40 is a great looking warbird!

I rush a bit and late last night i add a coat:

It might not be dry and it did not turn out to one of my better finishes.

I might add a third coat and stir the paint more.

A third coat of brown (a little better coverage). I hope it dries better....

Camo: I painted the green camo and took the masking off. I also sprayed a gloss coat and waiting for it to dry.

I have gloss coat, decal before the panel lines....
