Re: Michael's Modellers Mucking About
Thanks Nigel, Migrant gave me this kit. It has a die cast hull.
Re: Michael's Modellers Mucking About
I spray the tank with Tamiya Sand. I may experiment with silly putty or blu tac to mask for Nato black camo. I thought the tank was bigger
than it was needing more masking agent than i had.
I should have left the screw access panel off as the paint has "glued" them on. I may have to work around the hull to
put the tracks on. I do not thing i am going to paint the tires black and if i do, I will do them at the end with a micro brush and testors flat black.
Migrant suggest i use a Testor "gun metal" for the tracks as I dont have Tamiya XF-56 MET Grey or Humbrol 56 or Model masters 1781
The tow line and shovel are left to put on out of the extra parts left. Painting the tracks are left with the hairy sticks.

Step: Tool box, Shovel and tow line assembly.
I painted the shovel a red rust brown and blade "gun metal".
I hope my thick coat of red rust brown will level after drying on this tool box.
I cut to two strings to 90 mm and gel super glued the mounts and painted them gun metal as well the tracks on the spruces.
I did another light dusting of Tamiya Sand, I am waiting for it and the tracks to dry. When the tank is dry i might mask it to see how a Nato Black
how it would spray on to this tank. I noticed i need to put the side skirts before doing a black camo option MK II

Going very well Michael
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: Michael's Modellers Mucking About
Thanks Jeff, I hope the track go on OK. I was able to take the hull off pry the two panels where the screw are for the die cast hull.jssel wrote:Going very well Michael
Once i put the tracks on i need to reassembly the hull/panels and finally the side panels...
Also debating whether to try a silly putty/blu tac mask
for the NATO black camo scheme...
then the decals....since there is not many decals
I might "future" just the spots where the decals go...
Eight decals in total. Need to find the MK 2 codes
Re: Michael's Modellers Mucking About
Nice work so far on the Crusader Michael. Looking forward to the decals and finish. Those 1/48 Tamiya armor kits really look the part when built.
Do you know if the Revell JU-52 is a rebox of the Eduard kit? If it is it should be a good build as well as it is a very nice kit.

Thanks Paul, yes Migrant gave this kit it had a die cast hull and was a very good build. No fit issues!
Yes i believe it is a re box of a Eduard kit. Migrant told me.
Did you build this kit Paul?
Migrant is going to print me off decals from the screen shots of the movie Where Eagles Dare for this kit.
And i am going to paint to that scheme too!

Unless I'm making it!

Thanks for the cool Thumbs up graphic Ron!
Re: Michael's Modellers Mucking About
I started the Eduard Ju 52 a while ago but it disappeared during a move. A small but beautiful model. I will be watching your build of this with interest.
Cheers Michael.
