Cameronian's Hideaway

Post by Cameronian »

Cue for a song (for those of a certain age).
Image

It's 'organized' on the 'In/Out/Shake it all about' principle. The guys on the tray are on the way out, white guys on the shelf on the way in, red guys on the right, lemme see, half are on the way out, rest just hanging about. Ones in the wooden tray are awaiting orders.

At the moment it's all about painting wargame figures so not much of a narrative. In a couple of weeks I should be moving on to an aircraft and a couple of tanks which I will likely need some pointers on.

Certainly sounds like a true military operation. Very nice space.

Welcome to the UAMF Cameronian and that is a great looking combination of reference library and workbench. Figure painting is something that I keep promising myself that I will have a go at again but as yet I haven't got around to it. In addition to building aircraft I am also an enthusiast of military vehicles, which always look that bit better with a crew figure or two. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your efforts.

These went out (28mm Fanatic Berbers) what's fanatic about them I'm not quite sure:

These came in, 28mm U.S. infantry for Mexican-American War 1846:

After a serious failure with the HobbyBoss Wildcat, a second attempt was made at a different scale; 1/144 which I thought was bound to be in the 'gear up' version I wanted. No such luck so had to attempt a bodge again. I didn't find this easy as I'm not as dexterous as I was, so I'm a bit heavy-handed to put it mildly. As a result the finished construction is a bit rough and ready.

Anyway:

Not bad for 1/144! Good thing you jumped back in after 'serious failure'.
What went wrong with the Hobbyboss kit?

cheers,

I tried to convert the undercarriage to 'gear up' and effectively destroyed it as well as melting the wheel arches with liquid poly. Dropping the assembly and stepping on it didn't help either! The little 1/144s have few parts so with practice I can only improve.

When life hands you lemons....make lemonade! From your previous posts it's obvious that you're a wizard with figures, why not make a "Hard landing" carrier deck diorama with the crocked 'cat?

Let's just say chaps that some things are better left behind us. In future I will take a chill pill and examine carefully the parts and instructions before proceeding (how many tombstones have something similar carved into them?).

Moved on to tanks, these are bound to be able to take the punishment.

Image

Fully assembled raw straight from the box. The left hand one was done first so suffered in consequence, the right hand one is better but no beauty. More detailed models than I actually need (Armourfast would do). Bit fiddly to assemble, spent time crawling around on the floor looking for bits half the size of a grain of rice. The Braille Scale forum was invaluable with info on the assembly.

They're off to the paint shed now. Intended for use with the USMC.

I'd quite forgotten I had this thread.

Mostly been working on figures which are not particularly exciting for a workbench scenario, so I'll settle for some completed ones.
