Good save with the Greyhound, Paddy, it's looking excellent. What great detail there is on that AFV Club Sho't Kal. Marvellous.

Thanks Shaun, the detail on the Shot Kal is excellent.
Moving along with the turret, I removed the molded on cables and replaced them with thin copper wire:

Next was the rear stowage basket. It was a bit tricky, being made up of ten separate parts including the PE

But the fit of parts was very good and it does look rather good when finished

I was a bit concerned about the rubber mantlet cover, but it attached perfectly with super glue:

Nearly on the home straight, all that remains is the various armaments - main gun, machine guns and smoke dischargers.
Here's how it stands tonight, including the finished tow cables:

The tow cables were made using this:

It's standard Cat5 computer cable. The twisted multicore copper wires looks very realistic as steel cable.

Oh heck yes!!! That's some serious grade armor modeling.

Great idea using the PC cables. I think it's the same thing the boys at Karaya recycle into the product they charge a pretty penny for. And it's easy to do.

Very eager to see paint going on this one.

I second that emotion, this is seriously good stuff, Paddy. I used to have a small roll of 3 amp electrical wire that I made replacement tow cables from (the plastic items supplied in kits rarely look brilliant and don't "hang" properly on the model IMHO) but I can't find the stuff anywhere, I don't know what the heck I've done with it :???:

Thanks guys. Shaun, I know that feeling well, of not being able to find stuff I put somewhere safe!!!

Starting to get fed up with this build now :frown:
I added the smoke dischargers which were another pain in the proverbial.
Image
I had to remove the copper cabling to get them into place. I'll add them again later.
I also added the last of the ERA blocks.

The Browning M2 on the front of the turret doesn't come with a remote firing device. So I sent for these:

A bit tricky to clean up and assemble, there are 15 parts per gun, but it does look good when finished:
Image
Just need to add the firing cable when its painted.
The barrel is a bit warped, but hopefully some hot water should sort it out.

Well its a Christmas miracle!!!
I have finished construction on the sub assemblies

It'll probably be a few days before I get primer on it.
The detail on the various MGs and small arms is phenomenal. The roof mounted Uzis are made up of 4 parts and you can hardly even see them!

Happy Christmas guys.

As always with your work this is shaping up into a terrific build, Paddy and, notwithstanding the slight warp in the barrel, that 50 cal is a gem. Have a great Christmas!

Great looking pre-paint shot. Any primer on it yet?

Thanks guys. Softscience, your wish is my command:

Well after saying all construction on sub assemblies was finished, I now have to start removing parts to accomodate the new resin pieces. Thankfully it's only a few pieces but they include my carefully constructed rear bustle rack.
Thankfully the Legend resin replacement is out of this world:
Image

The detail in the stowage is simply fantastic! I'll add the PE grill after I've painted the stowage.

Finally I got a coat of primer on. Things really start looking up when you hit the primer stage.

Here's a close up comparing the kit supplied Ammo can stowage with the Legend replacement:

A quick shot of the commanders .30cal and mount:

Well, thats all for this year, see you all in 2018 - Happy New Year!

More great progress on this build and that Legend stowage really does look excellent and will look the business once it's painted I'm sure.

All the best for 2018, Paddy and I look forward to seeing more of your first class and often inspirational builds!
