MDT's plastic mayhem
MDT's plastic mayhem
I'm attmepting my first resin conversion set with this Heritage T.4 set.The base model is the recent Airfix B(I)8 -
As you can see, I've got a little sanding to do
Also having occasionally getting my attention (over around three years), a Harrier duo consisting of a GR7 & T10
The Airfix Harrier IIs are probably the most accurate but have a chunky feel to them. I added the MDCs in the canopies with a dab of white paint on a cocktail stick. This left my nerves a bit fraid but it worked fairly well -

The MDC's look good, just give the impression of them being there without being too distracting. The T4 looks good and I'll be interested to know what you think of the conversion. Look forward to seeing more.

Re: MDT's plastic mayhem
Thanks guys, As to rating the Heritage set, I don't have much to compare it too. I have found the fit of the resin parts challenging but I think my part preparation is probably the main issue. The PE set has been handy and the set as a whole (includes decals and 2 x vacform canopies) is good value for £12. I just wish I'd waited for the RAE ripple version but if this goes to plan I might buy another (or the T.17) set anyway.
Re: MDT's plastic mayhem
After many months out of the picture, (last completion in April... )I thought I'd attempt to get back into the habit and cannot believe how quickly you feel you've lost your skills!
My choice of kit to return to the fold with?? The Airfix TSR.2. Not a great idea at all, but nevermind!
I've got the cockpit parts painted up but nothing cemented yet - painting my crew took so much more time than i thought it would...sorry for the poor pic still getting used to the camera on my phone...
Am I making a big mistake? Possibly but the kit was burning a hole in the loft for ages!

Good to see you back at the bench Matt. At least building the TSR2 will make plenty of space in the loft for more kits.

Thanks James. You're not wrong, this is the first issue of this kit and the box is huge! Good to be back.
Re: MDT's plastic mayhem
Figures look good! Is it the 1:48?
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....
Re: MDT's plastic mayhem
Thanks Ian, annoyingly I know I've done better in the past but I've got to restart somewhere. I forgot to add this is 1/72 TSR.2.
Re: MDT's plastic mayhem
Some progress with the big controversial pointy white plane...
Thanks to the great advice of various internet sites I avoided some nasty fit issues by fitting the two upper fuselage sections to the completed wing section. Then this was cemented with care to the fuselage halves. Far better than if I'd followed the instructions!

Re: MDT's plastic mayhem
Interesting projects you have chosen. I can't say the Airfix 1/72 TSR.2 was great fun, and I built two of them. That's plenty.
Cheers,
David

Cheers David - I started the TSR.2 5 years ago but it’s this unfinished mostly down to the lovely fit! It will get there one day though...I’m not sure another is tempting!skypirate wrote:Interesting projects you have chosen. I can't say the Airfix 1/72 TSR.2 was great fun, and I built two of them.
