As one who also has problems with fading eyes and very thick fingers, I use an eye loupe for those parts which I can barely see. It clips on to the side of my glasses and has x10 magnification. The only thing that I have had to get used to is being able to see tings with it on, but not being able to find them without it! It was not expensive (about £10) and two lenses are provided in the pack so you can get x 20 if you wish. Would not be without it now.
I will have to seek one out.

I have not posted on my workbench in awhile so here is a few picks of models I have done.As is my usual all paints are acrylic and slapped on by hairy stick and weathered if applicable by old school drybrushing.

You know - armor may be your thing. I see a lot of developing talent in those kits. The matilda is especially nice.

If I can offer just a tiny bit of advice - make the drybrush color a touch closer to the base color. If you drybrush with Humbroll, than you can add a bit of lighter oil paint to the Humbroll base paint you used. The oil/enamel mixes are fantastic for drybrushing!

For example, if you used a dark green as your base shade, add a few dabs of Naples Yellow to the dark green and DB that. It extends the drying time and allows you to really blend the color in nicely.

Adding a wash to the drybrush is nice too, but thats for later.

Nice work on the tanks and the old Frog kits, I’m like you I like the simplicity of the old kits.

Hi, skypirate,Softscience,jssel,PTB11 and splash thanks for the kind words and advice it is much appreciated. I do these simple kits because I have more chance of finishing them.As for washes and proper weathering,I leave that to the true modellers on this forum. My modelling ethos is keep it simple stupid, even more so now that my wife's deteriorating health takes up most of my time.May I take this opportunity to wish all of the forum blwyddyn Newydd Dda,happy New Year.

Celt.

I've enjoyed seeing your work over the past year or so, Celt and I'm sorry to hear of your wife's continuing battle with her health. I can but wish you both all the best for the New Year.

These are the three latest plastic victims. The Airfix Lightning is too new for my tastes but it was given to me by a fellow club member. The Matchbox Swordfish went together with no filler but the only decals that survived were the rounders and fin stripe,it's on hold for now until I can get hold of some red codes. The Tamiya Lightning is nearly done, small bits of detail painting and decals left.

Well I have finished my Tamiya 1/100 Lightning and found it to be a relaxing build,a lot of people dismiss these kits stating they are not very accurate and have all the wrong bumps in all the wrong places, but I have never been a rivet counter and it looks like a Lightning to me.Paints were acrylic and slapped on with an hairy stick.
