It's been a while ...

Post by Jaime »

Well, it's been almost 5 years since I built my last kit & posted on here (http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=264&t=8862) but I'm finally back in the game.

Various things got in the way but chief amongst them was this conversion of the Tamiya 1/700 HMS Vampire to HMS Winchelsea during WW2 as a long range escort.

It's been a real roadblock of the type in the 'I Started So I'll Finish' forum, as I vowed I would finish it before doing any other kits. Now 5 years later I'm nearing completion of my first ever conversion, first ever 1/700 ship, first ever seascape & first ever diorama, recreating HMS Winchelsea under attack by JU88's on convoy KMS.26G, a scene recounted to me by my late grandfather who served on board in that encounter.

In the meantime my stash has grown as I've still been buying kits but not hugely, given that it's been 5 years!

Anyway, the Winchelsea has been a grind but it's coming together and I'll post some more pics of the very lengthy & fragmented build process in the 'I Started So I'll Finish' forum soon.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Looking forward to seeing this ship conversion - a relatively rare experience. Also looking forward to seeing some of those WW1types being built too.
