I'm going to make a special plinth for it to go on the SIG display table, with a placard reading "TO ALL KIT COLLECTORS-THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THEM!".
Go for it Kit, the only haters are 'Collectors' and Virgil 'Tiger' Cole
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Re: Kit's Dining Room Disasters
While looking at numerous pics of the trailer I came to realise just how simplified it is so decided to see what I can do. Biting off more than I can chew? Quite possibly.
Trailer as it comes. Storage box mounted on the rear platform but as I said, greatly simplified. Time to bring the saw out. Anybody cringing yet?
To be fair first cut is a simple one, straight across in line with the rear of the box, but only for the width of the box. Plastic strip straight across the back to create the gap that the box sits in. Bit of foil to cover the ejector marks then plastic stock chamfered to extend the centre section. Rear reflectors were removed also.
Underside of the box from stock and sprue to give it more depth.
Rear of chassis extended with stock then mounting tubes for box added from sprue.
Starting to extend the wheel arches with stock.
No going back now

I think when all this is done, you should have a ceremonial burning of the box to appease further annoy the collecting gods
Great work; keep it up!

No, fill the box with old sprues, take it to a collectors gathering and 'Accidentally' drop it on the floor and walk away to watch from a distance.iggie wrote:And then post the pictures on 'kit-collectors-R-us'Kitaholic wrote:with the unused tractor unit still iniggie wrote:I think when all this is done, you should have a ceremonial burning of the box toappeasefurther annoy the collecting gods

Re: Kit's Dining Room Disasters
That is tempting PT
Black areas have to be removed, Supporting rods are represented by solid triangles and the cross piece should be below the next part, not continuing into it.
Parts all removed. Also started thinning the circular part near the top edge. Too lazy to replace it.

Excellent it's really great to see this being built and detailed, Kit - I think the general feeling on here is one of "kits are there to be built" and I must admit that I get a lot of pleasure seeing real rarities being glued together!

Thanks Shaun. The more I delve into this the more I find that is simplified or just pure fantasy.

Great to see this classic being built. Nice detailing BTW.

Great scratch build add-ons on the models. They look great, especially on such a small scale!

Re: Kit's Dining Room Disasters
Thanks guys, slowly getting there
The more I looked at that ring on the trailer the more I realised I just couldn't live with it. Too thick, too deep and simplified. So off it came.
New shape for ring cut from beer tin aluminium.
Inner ring cut from plastic stock.
Cut and straight section added.
New metal ring being glued to plastic.
Front end is fictional and walkway is too big.
So off it comes.
Very true Daz, though still one of my favourite kits.Dazzled wrote:It's definitely a kit of it's era.Kitaholic wrote:Thanks Shaun. The more I delve into this the more I find that is simplified or just pure fantasy.

Re: Kit's Dining Room Disasters
Fantastic work kit!
Might it have been easier to start from scratch and add the bits of the kit that were actually correct? Possible a short list by the look of it mind you
