Dave's kitchen table

Post by David Silver »

I don't have room for a dedicated work area so I have to make do with the kitchen table, the best light is in there because of the large window. It is a pain having to clear everything away after a session because the table police comes prowling and knocks everything onto the floor.
I do my spraying in the shed but there's not a lot of room in there for anything else. Currently working on the Hobbyboss 1/16 Tiger, dry built in the pic just to see how it compared to the 1/35 Panther.

I'm not sure most people with their own benches have enough room for a 1/16 Tiger!!!!

Well done Dave, that looks excellent. There are quite a few of us on here that don't have a permanent bench, but it's amazing how inventive you cant get. One thing you could do is get some kind of tray (specialist modelling or just a bog standard one) so you can just move your stuff in one, with maybe a little toolbox for the rest of your bits and bobs.

Love you table police, I have a couple of those myself.

Cheers!

Cheers Stuart, I keep my paints, glue and sharp pointy things in one of those metal make up toolboxes, everything else easily fits into the Tiger box, including the table police when I'm not looking. What is it with cats and boxes? I think they are on a secret mission to sleep on or in every single thing on the planet.

Tiger zimmerit, never done it before but is there something wrong with me if I'm enjoying myself doing it?

No way, you rock on. I actually quite enjoy doing seam work and basic stuff like that - I find it quite therapeutic

Do you think it would be ok if I whistled or hummed a tune? I wouldn't want people to think I was enjoying it too much. Well anyway, I've done for today, I finished the gun thingy, the back exhaust plate thingy and the front hull thingy with the vision port and machine gun thingy on it.

The kit comes with those "saw blade" type tools that I've seen people on YT use with No Nails but they aren't going to be any use around the gun thingy or the vision port and they did say in their vids that you need to use putty on those parts but what's the point, if you've got to do some of it with putty then you may as well do it all with putty, at least that way it'll look like the same guy applied it all. I should imagine using the saw blade tools would give it too much of a uniform appearance and not look right next to the bits done by hand. So the tricky bits are done and it should be pretty easy and much quicker to do the hull front and sides and the turret. I can't wait to start chucking some paint on it.

Nope - you hum away! I'm currently attending an on-line course and assembling road wheels merrily whilst I listen.

That is looking superb - very nicely done!

Thanks mate, I don't know when I'll find the time to get stuck in again but in my defence I did say I'm building it slowly. I may have to start paint target number 2 in the meantime, something small to fiddle with in front of the TV. Have fun with the whee...... I mean online course!

Nothing wrong with having more than one build on the go.

Thanks - ''Awareness of ISO 17025'' delivered by UKAs.... Not very exciting. Thank God I'm doing it from home so I can do some modelling, if I was in the class room I'd shoot myself...
