Re: James' "Shed"
We'll ignore the fact that I've not updated this page for quite sometime.
My new bench lamp (daylight company from RNIB via Amazon) is a revelation, it shows up every single flaw that I've been merrily unaware of till now. Looks like every build from now on will have an extra round of filling and sanding. Oh joy.

Re: James' "Shed"
Bench looks good James. I could do with a lamp like that.

Always liked your bench James. To think of natural light from that window in the summer months is a boost. Right now if it isn't dark it is dark overcast where I live.

Re: James' "Shed"
Cheers Jeff. I think I'd be better off if the window was to the side of the bench as strong sunlight means what I'm looking at to be in shadow. However the room doesn't really allow that layout and I like being able to stare out at the garden.
I'm kicking myself for not getting a proper lamp earlier but a few years ago when we looked they were extortionate.

Re: James' "Shed"
Wow almost two years to the day since I last posted here - and strangely enough my daughter will be two soon as well, I wonder if it's a coincidence? Not been able to get into the shed for the last few weeks as it's been used to store Christmas presents and libations Wife and daughter are out so I'm heading there now to have a good tidy out and rearrange as I've got a spray booth to locate somewhere! Just pray I don't get distracted ....
.... In the meanwhile here is my year in builds:
Not a stellar year build wise due to the little one making demands on time and mental reserves.
Matchbox 1/76 PzKw-V Ausf-G Panther, bought by mistake when I was looking for the Ausf-L but decided to build it as it was very simple and I could practice some freehand airbrushing.
http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7347;
PM 1/72 Beech C-45, yuk but I was swayed by the GSB scheme:
http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=9371;
Aircraft in Miniature 1/72 MD300, Resin and PE, the master was evidently done using 3D printing, it was a shame that they didn't make the effort to remove the "lego artifacts" from the surface. Unimpressed for the price.
http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=9447;
Pegasus 1/72 NA FJ-1 Fury, picked up cheap at SMW2013 kitswap, not too bad for the limitations of the moulding but a bit short in the nose.
http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8496;
Airifx 1/72 Harrier GR3, old tool starter picked up in a junk shop. Decided to do it OOB for the little one to play with, hence lack of sticky out bits. Used the kit paint (OMG it's as bad as they say), brushes and glue. I quite literally slapped this one together with the haste and enthusiasm of an 8year old!

Re: James' "Shed"
James, you are not alone . My daughter is 3,5 and only now can I actually reclaim larger parts of evenings for hobby. (Work reclaims them easily) You were quite productive, but on the other hand, these are happy years, aren't they.

Re: James' "Shed"
Update on some GB casualties.
Firstly the fresh from DNF'ing the Vacform GB http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=319&t=11537; I've now got the main bits of my Waku Yak-15 together
The CMR 1/144 Shackleton http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=287&t=10519; has had it wings on for some time, but I gave up with the unusable props. I emailed CMR on the off chance and were happy to help even though I believe the kit is OOP. I got a box of props a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately there were only 3 front props and 1 rear, either that was all they had or someone unaware of the "contra nature" of the Shack thought there were too many props in the bag! Anyway I though it churlish to complain and will muddle through with what I've got.

Re: James' "Shed"
A couple of interesting looking projects on the go James and I've never worked with a vacform or resin beyond replacement detail parts. After failing to fit my 1/72 Lanc into the display cabs, I've come to the conclusion that 1/144 is really the way to go with larger subjects!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: James' "Shed"
Work has miraculously continued on the Yak. Filling and sanding just about done. A cone for the exhaust fashioned from a drop tank (vf part being to weedy). I had a go at boxing in the wheel wells with putty, not to any great success.
More detail added to cockpit which is the gunsight that sits on a a tubular frame, to be painted.

Nice work James and good to see you are getting a little time to be on the bench.

Nice one and I agree, it's good to see you getting a bit of bench time in James. I can't say that I've ever thought of, let alone tried, boxing in wheel wells with putty.

Re: James' "Shed"
Very little actual modelling going on. I've actually been trying to get to the bench this week, but something has kept cropping up to foil my attempts. I've have though managed some pseudo modelling activities, one of which was to increase the boarded area of the attic to store baby stuff. This has allowed by to spend some quality time with my stash and I've for the first time arranged all the IM kits in open boxes so that I may gaze upon them
The main bulk of the stash focusing on British Post-War and WWII experimentals
Big kits sat on my Macross mecha kits.
Random stuff sat upon figures and cars.
Various boxed and bagged CBKs a
This last pic is in my modelling room, and the least interesting the big box is full of resin kits with Welsh Models vacforms alongside

Some interesting kits in there James. Inpact Flycatcher and Bulldog, 1/48th Airfix Lightning, Esci F-100, Frog AR-234, Matchbox Seafox, all particularly caught my eye. And there's plenty of others. All in all, a great collection to spend quality time with
