Already got one of them on the go.

Crikey I've slipped to page 3

Well modelling took a back seat during June while I got wed. I've been steadily ramping up the hours over the last couple of weeks as I try and crack on with the builds I've got on the bench and try to maintain my 1 per month target. Going to be tough as I'm off on hols soon. I'm certainly not helping things by starting another two kits recently:

Airfix 1/32 AH Sprite
and my second Classic British Box Art Display build Airfix 1/72 Grumman J2F-6

I've know got 5 builds on the go which is a couple more than my usual quota and I'm still itching to start more. I think I'm starting to worry about building my stash as now I've got kits I bought on release that are being out dated by newer releases.

Just back from a 10 night holiday on a nice hot sunny beach resort. 10 nights without any modelling? Well no, as the Pit Road TSR2 came a week before I left; I realised that I could make decent start on the kit without having to paint anything and the fit was good enough I wouldn't have to stop for filler. So I just packed some glue, sanding stick and knife into the box and put it into the suitcase. While my other half was doing some Yoga one evening I was able to sit out on our veranda with a cold beer watching the sun go down over the sea and cracked on with getting the main airframe components together.

My bench is a bit mad at the moment with 7 projects on the go. This is more than twice what I would normally tackle. My mojo is fine, but I've been a bit unfocused of late and allowed myself to start things 'cos I fancy it rather than knuckling down and get on with projects that I really should have finished by now. Hence nothing has come off the bench in the last three months even though I've been working steady on things. Some big jobs in the garden and other things have meant I've not had any long sessions though. I really need to get some completions under my belt - especially the CBK Box art builds. My wife is away a few days next week, for work, and I'm looking forward to getting some serious progress done then but am determined to moved things forward.

Newest addition to the pile is the Airfix 1/72 AH.1 Lynx for the Whirly-bird GB.

Time for a very tardy update.

I kicked off the year with the challenge of building the Welsh Models 1/144 AW Argosy for the Twin Boom GB. I then added to my work load when I start Aurora's 1/32 Austin Healey 3000 Mk1 after is partially started state ruled it ineligible for the the Auto GB in March. Thankfully I'm making rapid headway on the CyberHobby 1/200 Vuclan B2

I've still got a number of nearly finished builds sat on the desk that I haven't blogged about yet too.

New projects seem to be moving quickly across the bench but that's probably because they are part of GBs so there is some urgency to get them complete. Three completed for the Auto GB

Piccolino 1/76 Lola T70 MkIII
Hawk 1/32 Lotus 30
Heller 1/43 Porsche 928

I'm now working on Amodel's 1/72 Yak-17 for the Early Jets GB. I hope to get this wrapped up quickly so I can focus on the couple of glacial projects that are hogging bench space.

The Argosy has seen some work, a while ago I added the wing walk lines, and tonight I made a start of the serials and roundels as things had stall while trying to find the correct sized upper wing roundels in 1/144. I made progress when I realized I had a picture of the same a/c in a slightly earlier set of markings which used the standard D types of which I had the correct ones.

In the picture of Argosy XP450 that I'm working from it carries the title Royal Air Force Near East, manybe the Argosy didn't have the range for the Far East. A model decal sheet was able to supply "Royal Air Force" titles in 4" lettering (which gives me the required 8" in 1/144) however I've just had to knuckle down and apply "Near East" as individual letters. I used some masking tape to make sure things stayed straight and allowed me to mark on the spacing. It's come out rather well. With that ends the decalling and now to move one to getting the undercarriage on before adding the various aerials.

Early this week I had managed to get the undercarriage on the Argosy - broke both of the legs get the dam things to line up. Which muppet made these cockeyed things, oh that would be me. And then to rub salt in the wounds, I found it was a recalcitrant tail sitter despite my earlier attempts to stamp out this behaviour. So I poured PVA, followed by a lot of shot one at a time through the obs' window in the nose. Give it a little shake until they stop rattling and you know they are coated in glue. Sorted.

Tonight was the fiddly, but satisfying job of adding aerials. Two towel rails underneath plus half a dozen other scattered around. Things momentarily went sour when I got finger in the CA and then dabbed it on one of the booms! thankfully I could scrape it off and patch up without too much damage.

As it was getting late I thought it a good idea to finally fill the windows with glue'n'glaze, took all of 5mins. I can now leave it overnight to dry without beign tempted to do more work.

Actually not an occurrence of James' poor typing skills, but looks like I've got auto edited for a 'rude' word - c0ckeyed

Ah, that was some strips of foam poked through the windows so that the black interior didn't end up with white shadows when I sprayed the roof. I plucked them out last night with some tweezers.
