VMA131Marine's Geedunk
To US Marines the word geedunk means ice cream, candy, potato chips and other assorted snacks, or the place where they can be purchased.

Re: VMA131Marine's Geedunk
My recently completed Airfix Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc. This is the new tooling, but I wasn't very happy with some aspects of the kit. I filled and rescribed the line for the elevator balances, added strip styrene to the horizontal stabiliser leading edges to improve their accuracy in plan view (I still think they are too small). I replaced the prop with the one from the Airfix Hurricane I/II kit (02042) and replaced the spinner with one leftover from a Hasegawa Mk II; it's better that the Airfix effort but may be too bulbous). I used True Details resin wheels and robbed a pitot mast from a the leftovers of a Revell Hurricane kit.

Can I ask, by the way, is it a hard or soft "g" at the start of "geedunk"?

Pogey-baitjssel wrote:Ah.......great looking "Poggie bait".
The Marines in China before WW II were issued candy (Baby Ruths, Tootsie Rolls, etc.) as part of their their ration supplements. At the time, sugar and other assorted sweets were rare commodities in China and much in demand by the Chinese, so the troops found the candy useful for barter in town.
The Chinese word for prostitute, roughly translated, is "pogey". Thus, Marines being Marines, candy became "Pogey Bait".

Re: VMA131Marine's Geedunk
Another ongoing project, here's my Hasegawa/Revell 1/32 Spitfire Mk Ia. I'm nearly to the decalling stage, just need to add the Future gloss coat. The upper surfaces are post-shaded and the undersides are pre-shaded.
