Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Most of the decals are now on, there's only a couple more stencils that I want to apply underneath but they go over the roundels so I'll let the latter dry overnight first. I have to say that I'm not totally impressed with the decals, they look nice enough and even the small stencils are legible but I have found that they don't want to adhere to the model, despite an almost textbook gloss finish and they require quite a lot of Microscale red bottle to pull them onto the surface. Still, the model is coming to life now:

Blimey ... your rattling along with this one. Getting some practice in ready for the Christmas 24-hour challenge rush a build thing on this forum.

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Cheers, Chris. By my usual standards this is a blitzbau. I didn't know we were having a Christmas blitz but I did successfully complete a 24 hour build on here a few years ago - to say I found it stressful is something of an understatement

That is one sleek looking spit! Really nice high speed silver finish.
Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
My favourite finish on British aircraft, silver with D type roundels. Stunning work Shaun.

Re: Shaun's Bodging Bench
Many thanks chaps, you are too kind. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the finish came out as normally I avoid silver/NMF schemes like the plague, as I've never had much success, but with this build I decided it was time that I had a go at such a finish once again. I think the black undercoat might have helped but certainly the 1990's tinlet of Humbrol 11 performed like a good 'un! Could have been beginner's luck though, of course

Nice work on the Spit Shaun, when it comes to metal finish you're a natural.

Thanks, Steve. I'm currently testing the bounds of my sanity by drilling out the exhaust stacks. Seemed like a good idea at the time
