That Spitfire is looking great in silver. Have you finished it yet?
You may be in the same place that I am in regards to silver finishes. Always been terrified; haven't been able to master Alclad yet (after beginner's luck), and now gaining confidence with 'regular' silver enamels, with light Tamiya Smoke post-shading and a floor polish finish. I haven't achieved consistency yet, but getting there.

Many thanks for your kind words and interest in this build chaps. I'm currently fiddling about with the undercarriage and detail painting of some other parts such as the prop and spinner - once she's on her wheels I'll post up some progress shots.

So far so good with this mojo restorer build even though it isn't my usual post war jet fare, as Stuart has pointed out, but it makes a change to have something with the fan upfront rather than buried in the bodywork

It is, Iggie. I've enjoyed the experience of building a modern kit strictly OOB, something I rarely do and indeed haven't done for quite a while.

OK, she's on her wheels. The undercarriage didn't give any major problems save that I did find the outer wheel doors a bit of a bind as they were unwilling to seat properly without some fettling. The canopy was also a little reluctant to fit and also required a bit of fettling, including some gaps filling with the Glue 'n' Glaze that I used to attach the thing. But, hey, we're modellers right?



On the underside I used Tamiya clear acrylics to paint the lights, save for the yellow which is a thin coat of standard Tamiya paint. To give some contrast, the undercarriage bays, inside of the doors and the wheel hubs all received a wash of heavily thinned Humbrol Matt Black.



I also drilled out the exhausts for a bit more realism. Not a job for anyone who wishes to remain reasonably sane



The above photo, taken with the super macro setting on my camera, shows the need for more touch up on the pipes! There's one or two areas that require attention in any event though, not least around the canopy.

Many thanks fellas. I used the smallest drill bit in the world (arguably ) to do the pipes. At first I thought it was a bit bonkers but now I think it was a worthwhile use of my time but, hey, the drug treatment has kicked in now so all is well with the world

Oh! I LOVE a natural metal Spitfire! That's a sweet build Shaun. And yes, the drilled out exhausts were well worth the time, effort, and questionable sanity. It makes a world of difference!

Great looking Spitfire! Fortunately, our eyes don't have a macro setting so the pipes will look fantastic in real life.
