Thank you all for your feedback gents, I am really warming to these old kits as they have been a pleasant surprise to me as I have never built any Monogram kits before.( That I know of )
Of course no doubt I will happen across some duffers in time....

Are the markings the kit ones?

They are indeed the original decals Jim except for the aftermarket swastikas.
I chose to do this version because like you I liked the added splash of colour that they brought to the finished model.

Thanks you Dirk and Stu, glad you liked it.

Time for an quick update on what I am building at the moment.

Image

I've decided on building this as the colourful alternate what if scheme supplied by Hobbyboss.

Image

And this one is the true scheme...

Image

I used the etched seatbelts that came with the kit and after they were painted I added them to the cockpit.

Image

The engine and cockpit were then placed into the starboard fuselage side.

Image

Before closing it up and adding the etched shelf.

Image

The engine would benifit from a bit more detailing if you were inclined to do so, I'm not so I didn't.

Image

Wing assembly, Mg's, tail and etched blast deflector were then added.

Image

I'm impressed by the overall fit of parts on this kit and the etched fret is a nice touch and will look forward to getting the paint work done on this great looking bird.

Looking cool. Are you going to open a panel or two to see the engine?

Thanks Dirk but the engine is not detailed enough to have the panels open and it would take more work to make it so than I am prepared to do to.

See the Eduard D11 engine with its pipes and extra pieces I built earlier this year.

Image

Compare to the Hobbyboss....and you will see why the panels aren't being opened
Image

The canopy will be open though.....:-D :-D :-D

Pre shade and camo added, I like this unusual scheme.

Next job will be to repaint the MG's add the exhaust stubs and paint the rear wheel.
Once this has been done then the main undercarriage can be added.

Exhaust stubs added.
Klear added.
Decals Added.

The decals are great and are nice and thin to apply.

The next things to do will be to add the exhaust stains, panel line wash a tad this time of post shading, add the rear canopy, a coat of matt varnish and then add all the danglies.

That 190 looks terrific! I can't wait to see what you do with the 262.

Thanks Paul.

Well I have made a start on the 262 and have nearly completed step one.

Image

This is the tub without the seat and bulkhead attached.

Image

And with the seat etc inserted we end up with this.

Image

There is no Photo etch gubbins with this kit so I made some generic belts out of Tamiya tape.
I'll finish off the cockpit before moving onto the following MG's and associated platforms in step two.
