I've got a workbench thread elsewhere relating to my Big Modelling Project, which is currently stalled a little while I wait for some stuff to arrive from Poland, which appears to have gone astray in the post.

Meanwhile, I've been doing some other stuff and since several of the items are currently building on another forum, I thought I'd show them here as well. If you're a reader of http://www.scale-models.co.uk;, as you were. Otherwise...

First off, here's the Airfix Ju87B that I'm working on for the "Captured!" Group Build. The general theme of the build is captured equipment, but I thought it might be cool to make a diorama of the moment of capture itself. So I have this kit



a pair of CMK resin Italian Pilots (who I've christened Mario & Luigi)



and the Tamiya 1/48 British Infantry set:



The idea is that an Italian stuka has put down in the desert and a British patrol have just shown up to take the crew prisoner. There were a number of incidents of just that happening, though this isn't modelling a specific aircraft involved.

In the background is an ARII 1/48 P-40 Warhawk which I brought back from a holiday in Japan and did as a Soviet lend-lease plane.

That's actually what the hex base is for - again, I'm waiting on that missing parcel from Poland for a set of ICM Soviet Pilots & Ground Crew, but I have now attached the aerial wire (my first encounter with nylon wire and zipkicker - much cursing, and I need to repaint a bit of wingtip where I got a bit eager with the accellerator and stripped the paint). Looks like some nice detail in the kit.

Yeah, it's not a bad one. It's got some fit issues, and the wheel wells for instance are completely devoid of detail, but the engine looks good.

It's got an Eduard Zoom set in the cockpit as well, which is where the gunsight is from.

Also just finished, one for the what-iffers - apparently in January 1940 the Air Ministry ordered 600 Reggiane Re.2000 fighters and 300 Caproni Ca.313 recon-bombers from Italy. Germany approved the order in March, but withdrew approval in April. The British and Italian governments spent some time trying to fulfil the order through Caproni's Portuguese subsidiary before the Italian declaration of war in June put paid to the whole thing.

So here's a Smer Reggiane Re.2000 finished in RAF markings with the AASF, France 1940.

I knew the RAF had ordered Caproni bombers, but not the Reggianes. Interesting to see one in these colours.

Next up, a 1/72 Revell Nieuport N.28C, to give me some rigging practice.



This one, it's pretty cheap so won't matter too much if I arse it up. I've got an Eduard Weekend Edition Nieuport 11 in the stash as well.

I've always had an interest in WW1 generally, but shied away from making the planes because of the rigging, and because they're so dinky in 1/72...

Well, this rigging lark isn't too bad. I'll post some pictures shortly but I'm generally happy with the results.

Some technical issues with the camera (new batteries) now sorted, so the N.28 photos will be along tonight hopefully.

In the meantime, the next kit off the stash is the Airfix 1/72 F/A-18A Hornet, which I'll open with its own build thread as I'll need some advice on converting it to a Swiss "C".

That RE 2000 looks cool, but I'd ditch the pilot. He looks way underscale.

I think he came out of a different kit - the one with the Smer kit was just a vaguely humanoid blob of plastic. I actually think the kit itself is closer to 1/50 than the advertised 1/48...
