After long hiatus, finally the winds of modelling came upon my workshop. I am progressing with the Apache affair. I have to say, it is by far the worst Italeri kit (and it was released in 90ies, what were they thinking? :)) I have tackled since ever. :) ....but I enjoy it, which I guess makes for already distinguishable perversion. I think shrinks would be interested. Nevertheless today I finally closed the cockpit, shot the base black

then the OD time!

Almost everything is suspect in this model, from panels to greenhouse geometry but I am not gonna dispute the fact it still looks like a mean machine the Apache is.
Meanwhile, I have started ... 1/72 Heller T-33 as well but camera went out of battery while I tried to shoot it so pics tomorrow.
Good to be back. Now, I have like a two week backlog in reading the forum. :)

Some minute things like disco equipment and new year's eve firecrackers were installed today on the Apache airframe.

the dome and optronics will be installed last so I have left them for later. Painting hopefully tomorrow.

I am trailing with the Heller T-33 along the Apache project. That one will also require the whole strength of the filler squadron :) (Heller = Filler, I guess) but is a lovely older kit in a unassuming Thunderbirds boxing.

I have rescribed wings already on this one. Fuselage panels will be rescribed as well as I found the automotive scribers a dream to work with lately. Now I just need to find a way to restore some raised panels on older models :).

What an old kit. I like what you've done with it so far. I've seen this kit (Tamiya or Academy boxing) at my LHS. I've come close to picking it up several times. I look forward to seeing how yours comes out.

I have not seen either boxings. I assumed the T-33 is represented only by Hasegawa (nice, very plain and even older) and Sword (which is fussy from what I've read) in 72. I truly recommend this kit. So far, only the work I was expecting to do, nothing out of ordinary in 80ies :).

Really liking that Apache Marek. The black undercoat added depth overall to the finish.

Raised panel lines are nasty to replace - I´ve tried scraping with the back of ny modeeling knife which leaves a raised edge or some stretched sprue. Sometimes I cheat by running the riviting wheel over the seam!

The Apache is alive! after trial and tribulations (usual errors, expected and unexpected screwups etc.). The T-33 is waiting to be tackled again

The rest is in the aviation gallery :). Hope to deliver next one before the baby is actually born. :)

Try rocking a #11 or a #10 blade lightly where you want to restore the panel line. Then burnish the cut 90 degrees against the line with a polishing cloth (think t-shirt). This will push the edges of the cut together. Under a bit of paint, this gives the impression of a raised line. This works for delicate raised lines. For heavy lines, stretched sprue works, but I prefer to sand and rescribe.

What's wrong with the Apache? Your model looks pretty decent and looks like an Apache to me. I have to admit I am not an Apache aficionado, though.
