Re: Stupots sanctuary
Nice going with the Fury.
Re: Stupots sanctuary
Man you are busy there! The Flanker is really sweet.
Nice Fury too Stu. Is that the old Matchbox Fury kit? I seem to recall doing one a long time ago but I don't remember it being Revell? Lovely kit and great work.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that it is the old matchbox kit. Its really coming along now - I'll try to post some more progress pics soon.
Thanks for the interest.

Got the top wing on! Although it was a little tricky my first attempt went ok but then I dropped the model and knocked off the wing along with the undercarriage legs. After that it took ages to get it right again and I managed to get superglue all over the nice paint finish.
I’ve tried to fix the finish of the areas that I got the glue on which doesn’t look too bad but the joins between the struts and the wing are not so pretty any more.
So here it is at the moment. I still need to rig it and then fit the last few parts but I’m almost there. Needless to say I am going to be very careful handling the model!
The matt coat was brushed with a mix of (roughly) 50/50 Humbrol Matt cote and white spirit.

Re: Stupots sanctuary
Biplanes make great looking models but can be a proper pain in the behind to put together, especially fixing the upper wing, IMHO. Despite the near disaster, Stu, you've managed a good save and that is a great looking model.

Thanks all,
Some more Val progress. I have attempted to mask the canopies but I’m not sure that the frames are 100% accurate as I struggled with the frame lines. I used the instructions as a guide but still I think I’ve missed a frame or two. The clear plastic was also quite brittle and I have had to be careful handling them.
Work started…
Nearly there…
It took a long time but finally they were both finished…

Meanwhile the Vals have been primed with Humbrol Primer with any imperfections sorted and sanded to an overall smooth finish (Apart from the rivets of course).

The Vals are looking excellent, Stu, very smooth looking I must say. You have certainly got a lorra patience with that tape masking of the canopies!!
