That is a great new shiny work space Stu and a very nice looking Flanker cockpit!

For you Iggie… :)

Image

I’ve got the cockpit all done on the Fury but not much else. I added the framework and made up the control column although I doubt much will be seen once everything is together and I want to use the pilot figure too. He will be added to the seat before joining the fuselage halves. It’ll take me a little time to get him painted - I’ve sat him in the seat just for the photo…

I took his head off and repositioned it to add something different.

Thanks, I test fitted the canopy over it today and it is quite visible so I'm glad I added the extra detail.

Cheers guys, I think he is sad because he knows how long it will take me to finish building his aeroplane. :)

+1 from me Stu, that is a great bit of figure painting, he is sporting a very raffish 'tache!

Great paint job on the pilot figure. I like the twist in his neck. He is not just looking straight ahead, he looks like he is calling out to clear the engine for start.

Thanks Paul, I'm glad you liked this. Its just the effect I'm trying to get. :)

Figured out I can put him in at the end of the build so it should make masking the cockpit a bit easier.

A little progress on the flanker…

Image

Most of the main pieces have now been constructed. I have used filler on all the joins and the sanding has resulted in some of the raised detail being lost but I tried to limit this by using tape to cover the areas next to the filler and it doesn't look too bad really.

The underside…

Image

The intakes simply join next to the back ends that are moulded to the fuselage and there is some raised detail on the fuselage onto which the front of the intakes can be glued. I accidentally loosened one and completely detached the other while handling the model so to make sure it didn’t happen again these were superglued back in place.

I will need to prime the model now to make sure everything looks ok around the joins but I'm happy with everything so far and it’s good to see it coming together now. It's really quite a big model.
