Good progress with the Flanker Stu, the type is a great looker IMHO.

A little update from the bench...

The fury has received an overall coat of silver paint. Converting from Revell to Humbrol suggest Humbrol Aluminium 56. I find this really tricky to brush paint and to my eye it’s also quite dark once applied so I used Humbrol 11 and mixed in a drop or two of black paint. The engine area will be lighter but I’ll tackle that last. Next will be the yellow bits which will be done with Revell Aqua yellow which brushes really well.

The Flanker has had its tail ends, nose and missiles painted white. I would have liked to use Tamiya white from my airbrush but I didn’t have a place set up to use it at the time. So instead I used Citadel scar white which brushed quite well when thinned. A protective coat of klear was used and then they were masked. I am trying to decide whether or not to add some mirrors to the cockpit canopy. It is quite large and I think they would improve the look. Well after the dust issue with the F-16 I’m leaving it off until the end of the build so there’s plenty of time to think about it.

These two are new on the bench. They are both the Airfix Val. I plan to build them with each using one of the two decal options. I have used a lot of filler on these and I’m not finished yet. The covers around the wheels are going to need some too. The tail planes seemed to fit ok though so I’ll leave them off until last which may help when it comes to painting and decals.

It's good to see your bench again Stu and I agree, you have an interesting set of projects on the go. A biplane, a jet and a pair of carrier dive bombers - near enough something for everyone

Someone is being rather industrious, all looking very nice

A fine bit of juggling with that lot
A start on my first kit a Hawker Hurricane as been made, a spitfire awaits in the wings and thinking about models to come.

Modelling space in shed coming along nicely.

You are not wrong! The Airfix Val from an earlier era needs a bit of work to look more like a Val, but I found the thick and chunky glazing to be the worst offender.
I presume you have some nice decals from a more recent release?

cheers,

Hi David,

Yes these are from the new red boxes so hopefully the decals will be ok.

Meanwhile on the Fury build, I’ve painted the yellow and also the shiny panels around the engine. This was done with revel aqua paint for the yellow and Humbrol metalcote for the silver…

The Fury is looking very sharp and you've got a nice depth to the yellow
Best wishes
