Old_Tonto's Tepee

Post by Old_Tonto »

The great thing about a tepee is that it is easy to move. 8-)

It's been a while since I updated the bench but I have not been idle. Here are the completions from the DC3 group build. First up an example from the RAF Transport command:
Image
The kit is Airfix with decals from S&M.
Image
I was fortunate enough to fly in this aircraft a couple of years back.
Image

The second Dakota is a South African ParaDak Circa 1980.
Image
This is the Italeri kit - same as the Airfix, with decals from the spares box.
Image
The black anti-slip panels on the wing root are tamiya tape painted black. I wish I had made more of an effort with the engine necelles now but I must confess that time was running short & I hadn't realised how big DC3's were! I had to aquire a larger shelf unit from work.

I am also plodding on with the Airfix Hurricane Mk IIc at work but I seem to have lost my mojo with this one.
Image
Nearly there though.

A much more fun build has been this ancient Hurricane. I am making this with my daughter Polly - she is learning about the blitz at school.
Image

It's falling together:
Image
It would make a great Blitzbuild.

No.1 son is not to be left out. He is a massive Star Wars fan so we are on with this:
Image

I have also started one of my builds for the Nam group build:
Image

And finally my Rhubarb group build has started. More to follow. :smilie_flagge3:

Nice Pair of Daks , my lad also like Star Wars . The pocket kits are ideal to get him interested in the hobby .

Great stuff OT. I like the ParaDak.

I built that Hurricane as my introuduction back into the hobby. Two of them in fact which are now in Number One son's bedroom. I have a couple more which I hope to use as bait into the hobby for him and his younger brother in a few years time!

Not much happening of late. Spent more time painting the kitchen than anything else. :???:

I did finish a Spitfire for the Rhubarb group build:
Image
Image
This was a Tamiya Mk Vb converted back to a Spitfire Mk IIb using the 3D-kits conversion set. Decals are from Carpena. The 3D-kit was a lovely set & I can highly recommend it for it's quality. The group build was good fun and a great idea so well done who ever proposed it.

Also managed to get this Revell Star Wars kit together for my boy.
Image

Image
I had intended to weather it a bit but he is playing with it now.

Fot the Nam group build I am well on the way with the Skoshi Tiger and have also started a North Vietnamese Mig-19.
Image
This is the ESCI kit which I think is now owned by Italeri - a lovely kit which captures the early F-5 really well.

Next is the KP Mi-19.
Image
This one is proving to be a bit of a hand full and is consuming plenty of filler & sanding time. The Czech instructions are not much help either.

All great stuff OT. That paint job must have been something else on the Skoshi Tiger. Very nice. What red did you use on the Star Wars kit?

The MIG is looking OK OT. It's not as though there are that many to choose from at the moment.

I can't believe it's been a month since my last update. Not much happening of late on the bench but I did complete a couple of kits for the Vietnam GB. An Esci F-5C 'Skoshi Tiger' and a KP Mig 19 with home made decals, here they are:

Image

Image

Currently on the bench & consuming a large amount of build time is this Pavla Skua I am doing as part of the Anti-Shipping group build.

I am also planning a Blitzbau this week so plenty going on.

I like the Mig. Keeps reminding me that I want to build all the Mig jets and display them together.
