With ill fitting canopies (and I find that there are quite a few  ) I often fill and/or tidy the joins using a thin bead of Glue and Glaze or PVA applied using a pin or sharp cocktail stick, which I find easier to apply than trying to use a thin bead of filler. I've found this method has saved the day in the past! Best of luck with it OT and hopefully you will be able to finish the model up to your satisfaction as I can see that a lot of work has gone into it so far.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

The Heller Mirage III for the Mirage (best game in town unless you have vast supplies of cash!) and Italeri Kfir C2 with much work. Not a great kit to start with but very cheep. I like cheep.

Yes indeed but I have yet to decide which scheme and if it will be in-flight. As I have no U\C in-flight is looking like a good option. Do I arm it or go clean? Never seen many images of clean Fishbeds, no legs see. So either Missiles or drop tanks, or maybe centre line tank and Atolls.

This is taking quite a lot of effort but being a bit of a masochist I much prefer these builds to 'Shake & Bake' kits from Tamiya, Eduard etc. :-D
Am I weird?

Got some colour on the MiG last night.

Image

A few touch ups required but nothing too drastic. The horizontal stabilizers are not glued in this shot.I plan to mask off and paint the engine section at the rear of the fuselage before I add them.
I've decided to do this one in flight as it's easier than sourcing an U\C and detailing the bays.

I'm putting this one on hold for this weekend whilst I do a Blitzbau. :bounce:

Kind words John and much appreciated from one so skilled as yourself. I can't take too much credit, it's mostly trial and error and a big slice of luck.

If only I could master canopies and air brushing I'd be happy.

It took me 3 years to just get a 'idea how to float' with respect to airbrushing. I still experiment with canopies if they are complex shapes and not get them always right. OT, you are doing it right :)

Just keep doing what you're doing, OT. Practice is what develops skill. Try new stuff and don't be afraid of screwing up. They're only plastic models you know.

Yes - that's true - only practice do us better. MiG-21 with that camouflage and with DDR decals will look great ! :-)

Sorry guys. Iv'e been a bit lax updating here again!

I completed this F-20 for the whatiffery group build:
Image

It is the Hasegawa 1/72 kit and was a joy to build.
With that out of the way I'm pressing on with the two seat MiG-21 build.

Image

Still need to source some U\C doors for the nose but I started decaling anyway.

Image

Just need to finish off a few of the smaller bits & work out how to fit a stand. I want to add a centre line drop tank but that means the stand being off centre. :???:
There is not much detail to highlight so I'll only give this one a little weathering. Must find an AA-2 Atoll missile as well.
So still plenty to do.

I'm not sure how authentic it is, all I've seen are artists impressions. Still awaiting a response to my inquiries from the East German Government.

I like the way the DDR roundels stand out in this scheme.

Just adding aerials, missiles etc and doing a little weathering at the moment. The underside is coming along:

Image

I still need to add the droptank and some small aerials near the wing tips but I'll have to make them from stretched sprue.

With this one nearing completion I've picked out another couple of bench queens that have been languishing for too long. Time to sort these out.
First up is the old Matchbox F-5B that I plan to do in Turkish markings. Camo scheme looks like fun! :???:

Image

The canopy is not attached yet as I still need to finish off the interior. Also nee to source the wingtip & drop tanks.
I have the decals though. 8-)

Also this Airfix Sabre that I have some rather nice South African decals for:

Image

This one stalled because the rattle can silver I used had a very rough texture to it.
My plan is to tidy up some of the seams, sand it back to a smooth finish then try out some Revell AquaColor aluminium applied with my airbrush.
I figure I've got nothing to lose. ;-)

So there you go, plenty happening in the old Teepee. :smilie_flagge3:

That F-20 is a corker OT. Re the MiG-21 - could the stand be fitted to the centreline tank rather than offset? or would that look rubbish? :???:
