Great work with this pair, OT - that is a lovely smooth looking white finish on the '104, white can be such a cow to get right IMHO.

Both are looking really good and I'm looking forward to seeing the 104 get it's decals on

I wish. ;-)

The Sabre is just about there. Wash on:

Image

Wash off. Mr Miyagi would be proud! ;-)
I have uncovered the canopy with no damage done. I can even see the pilot. 8-)

Image

As you can see the drop tanks are attached so I just need to paint the nav-lights, make a pitot tube and paint the canopy framing. I will be glad to see the back of this one.

I've made a start on the S-tank but nothing to show just yet as I'm still assembling wheels, running gear etc.

I decided that the nose of the MiG-29 looked a little emaciated and a bit of research showed that I am not alone in thinking this.
So Quickboost resin to the rescue and I have to say what a lovely bit of resin it is.
You can see the difference between the kit part and replacement here:

Image

The kit part is a bit slim and a little short - very reminiscent of the pre-production aircraft before the radar was ready.
I guess this could be what italeri based their kit on. So I started on the nose job.

Image

I cut shy of the line where the parts should meet so that I can sand down to where I need. It's much easier to remove than add plastic. :-D

The F-104 is in the paint shop and I will document progress for that build in the 'Shelf of Doom SB' thread as it has been started for several years.

The Sabre is looking good and the replacement nose will make a difference.

As it was November when I last posted here I thought it's about time I updated you all will my shenanigans.
In my defence it has been a bit too cold in the attic for model making so my builds have slowed from a snails pace to something even more lethargic.

So to catch up, the Sabre did get finished and can be found in the Aviation section

I also completed this big beasty for the crap kits GB.

Image

And a couple of completions from the Blitzbau

Image

Image

You can see that I have been busy Blitz building trainers.

So getting back to the bench it currently looks like this:

Image

That is pretty slim pickings for me as I usually have at least six kits on the go at any one time. I need to touch up some of the paintwork on the Starfighter but it is 90% there. Still need to finish the undercarriage, add some small aerials then gloss coat. I want this to remain clean as NASA aircraft kept in pristine condition although I think a panel line wash should reveal the lovely details on this kit.

The Italeri MiG-29 is ready for painting but I'm still deciding on the colours. I want it to look like this but can't equate the camo to Tamiya paints.

Image

I have also started an Eduard Spitfire for the Merlin engined GB and am looking at starting a Special Hobby Mirage F.1 so things are picking up. 8-)

That covers everything for now. Who knows what will feature in my next quarterly update. :ha:

I made some progress on the MiG-29 Fulcrum this week. I sprayed some dessert yellow before masking it off and applying the dark green.

Image

Been messing with white tack rolls to give me feathered edges. I'm not sure if it is worth the effort. :???:

Image

Anyway, this is how it has ended up. Sadly not as worn as I'd have liked.

Image

I'm not convinced about the sand colour but the others look like a pretty good match. There are a few areas to touch up so I'll do that tonight and give the whole thing a coat of Klear.
I'll have to do some weathering as it all looks a bit too vivid at the moment. 8-)
Once the whole thing is toned down a bit I will paint the engine exhausts, anti-dazzle panel and various grey panels before decalling.

More to follow.

Nice work on the camo, did you mix the colours in the end or straight from the pots?
