Yes, very inconsiderate of them. Remember when you got a decal sheet that had just serials and national markings. If you got an IP decal you thought you were spoilt.
Ah,yes those were the days, models were in pence not pounds!!

Small update, Canberra almost finished. And also working on Airfix's old Harrier GR7 and a Super Etendard.

That's a good looking trio there, but the Super Etendard is my pic, that camo looks sweet!

+1 from me Shane, a great looking trio and I've also got a soft spot for the SuE.

Its been a while since I looked on ShanesBench, and wow; all of the cool stuff I have missed! I really like the corsair, even if Italeri's gear wells are spuriously shallow. The canberra is a real stunner.

Cheers all, it's taken me a at least 4 years to get the Canberra finally finished. I could have sold it for 3x what I paid for it judging by the prices on Ebay. Both it and the B1(8) seem hard to come by now. I decided not to use all of the stencils thoughtfully provided by Revel nor the wingwalks . I had out run of decal stamina at this stage. The Harrier is as bad and they are not as strong so will have to be careful putting them in place.

Great work, Shane!
Very interesting to see the old GR.7 and the Canberra, both of which I will build.
Though I would be tempted to replace that 'towel rail' on the Canberra (unless it is supposed to be that thick). Hope you don't mind me saying so.

cheers,

David

Hi David, I thought the same but after so long I just couldn't be bothered. I was glad to get it polished off and away from the bench.

A few more decals applied tonight to the Harrier and Etendard. The Harrier comes from the from the old Airfix period and the decals are the worst I've dealt with in a long time. I was going to load it up with cluster bombs but the markings for them just fell apart. I may be able to get 2 on if I'm lucky. I'm just using cool water as warm was too warm if you get my drift. Even the stencils tear at the slightest twist.

They are supposed to be BOZ pods I think, when I started the kit years ago I cut the openings in the wings. It was originally going to be in a 2006 scheme post conflict. When I got around to finally finishing it and finding the the Airfix decals were iffy I had to use earlier markings so they are just tacked on to fill the slots.

Well you learn something new every day, I had no idea the BOZ-107 had been fitted to the PR9.

I just looked it up and according to Flight Global from Aug 1999 the five remaining Canberras were to undergo a Defensive Aid Suite upgrade fit of Vinten chaff and flare dispensers but prior to that they were fitted with the BOZ -107 pods.

Coming along nicely Shane. I don't know how old either of these kits are but certainly I've had issues with 80's and 90's Airfix decals - I've had olde worlde 70's decals perform better!
