Firstly sorry for missing your question. It is indeed the Revell kit. The pilots are from the Hobbymaster prepainted USN set. Many thanks for the complement.
I asked if anyone wanted to follow a diecast restoration on here and I got the affirmative. Here are the starting pictures. The strip down took about two minutes. Four screws to remove the two lower parts and that gets the white frame off also. The spring plates for the pads will pop off then. Two more gets the spine off the front and rear parts. Almost totally stripped in a couple of minutes. Odly enough the one thing usually broken or missing is the rocket pack from the tear. Intact in this case but needing a repaint. After removing the lower halves they were straighteneb by slipping the pods onto the hook of a claw hammer and using gentle twisting and matching with the top parts they were straightened. The front top part had the bent top rails tapped into place very carefully. I did not expect them to survive this but I was lucky. Aftr tge straightening I put all the parts to be re-used back together. The top frame. One part usually damaged has a couple of pieces broken off. These will be replaced with white sprue suitable filed to shape. This is one part that is not available as a replacement part. Not goid news. I have been in tough with a manufacturer of dinky and corgi spares but he said the tooling cost would be too high. Anyway. Thats all for now.

all the best.

Greg.

Here are the pics. Moee to follow

Looks like the Eagle is in safe hands Greg; I remember the lime green from the Dinky version, but not the TV series.... :???:

I am certainly not painting my 1/48 one in that horrible colour! :-D :-D
Best wishes

Cheers Iggie. I am undecided as yet if I should go with the metalic green. Do it as the metalic blue version or if I should do it white. Though the latter is the favourite option st the moment. I will be trying to get hold of the freighter pod for it. That will probably be another restoration job.

All the best.

Nice start on the restoration. I loved this show, always wanted an Eagle!
FWIW I'd go with the white version, but either way its going to look great.

I never understood why Dinky issued it in those colours anyway. It has to be white to be a real Eagle.

Cheers guys. I think white will be the way to go. I had all three colours I mentioned. Always prefered the white one though. I once saw a metalic red one at a toy fair. Not sure if it was factory original or a repaint but if the latter it was a damn good one. At the same toy fair I almost got into an argument with a guy who insisted that Dinky never issued the white Eagle with a white pod. I asked him if that wss the case how come my parents bought me one brand new just like that. He told me it never happened. I asked him politely if he was calling me a liar. Thats when he went on a rant. I just laughed and walked away.

All the best.

As promised I will document my Huntsman conversion on here. Firstly a few notes. The model came to me second hand, to be honest I can't remember where from. It was missing the fin-rudder part so this made the job a little trickier insofar as removing the Airfix part. The fuselage is a solid resin part. It has recesses for all the windows so short of major surgery there won't be any interior detail at all. It is recomended you fill the windows with crystal clear or similar. This inclodes the cockpit windows. The recomended donor kit is the venerable old Airfix Hunter mk9. From this you need the wings, main undercarriage and tailplanes. I also had to carefully remove the fin for the reason already stated.
The Huntsman was supposed to have a twin nosewheel. I have sourced one from the spares box but I don't know what kit it came from.
The wing attachment is not straight forward. You will need to cut down the locating lugs from the Airfix wings. Or chop them completely as I did. As usual the dogtooth on the Airfix wings needs reworking. I have a set of fine jewelers files for this sort of work. Just file the inner face flush with the airflow over the wing. Still with the wing attachment, fill sand repeat. Enough said?
Attaching the tail was straightforward. The underfuselage was a bit rough on my example. A skim of perfect putty and a sanding session sorted this. Though be careful not to knock off an aileron (yep, I wasn't).
Thats where the beast stands at the moment. Pics time.

All the best.

Greg

Sorry. Thought I had replied. Cheers Greg. Am undecided whether to do the red/white/grey RAF scheme or silver with yellow training bands. Or maybe a corporate jet scheme.

All the best.

Cheers. The Aircraft is the proposed biz jet variant of the Hunter called the Huntsman. A paper project that didn't go any further.
Reading more on the Internet the instructions mention a fin piece but non of the builds I have seen had one. Maybe I misunderstood. Apart from a little more sanding and finding the aileron and attaching it no further progress as yet. Hopefully I will get sometime on this later but I am off to spend a couple of hours at the local aircraft museum.

All the best

This is an excellent project, Greg. Personally, I think the Huntsman is way prettier than the Hunter it was to be derived from.
