Wow! ...what a varied selection, and great work on them all!
Love the Viper, (Battlestar Galactica fan as a kid!) and that Herbie is fantastic! (amazing chrome effects!)
Cheers!

Re: Phil's Bench is back.
First of the year is done, one I spent way too much time on last year.
Israeli Dakota from the new Airfix kit done as a review for IPMS/USA. Not really that hard of a build and very little putty used on mine but trying to come up with the markings and the paint scheme seemed to take way too long. I wasn't fond of either of the markings that came with the kit (this is the Civilian release) as there were no passenger seats included. Actually the plastic is exactly like the first release (the D-Day one) including the skis and the loading ramp but the instructions ignore these parts.
Casting around for something small air forceish or Arab/Israeli War era I found a set of decals from Sky Decals with Israeli markings including some from the '56 war so decided to try one of them. One was a former airliner from Arkia that was transferred to the Air Force for the conflict. The instructions with the decals showed this in just earth over grey so an easy do for me and my rattle cans. Unfortunately the only top view is of a later tri camo scheme and I wasn't sure about the size of the ID stripes or whether the Star of David markings were on top of one or both wings. The only pics I could find online were a profile and a build so I did some asking and ended up with a nice pic of the bird I wanted to do from the Israeli AMPS Facebook page. Of course, while this did show the ID stripes it showed no Star of David markings under the wings or on the fuselage (decal instructions have the fuselage marked). Not only that but it shows the plane was camouflaged in the blue and brown top colors.
So after much masking and some Anglo Saxon (dang paint bleed on the ID stripes) I finally got is all on. Still needs some wiring added and could use a little more weathering but the plane in the pic was pretty clean so went with that. Anyway, enough talk, here are a couple pics.

Very very nice work!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Phil's Bench is back.
Wow, has it really been a year and a half since I posted up my finished stuff? Well, not that there has been that many and a few of them were reviews for IPMS/USA so I had to wait but let's see if I can get you all caught up.
First off was a small diorama for a group build. The idea was the completed build had to fit within a CD/DVD. Here is Maelee's Melee done in 28mm. The figures are from Bombshell Miniatures.

Re: Phil's Bench is back.
And finally a couple 72nd dive bombers.
Airfix's lovely Stuka.
and Academy's Curtis Helldiver.
That should have caught you up for now. Have several in progress builds in various stages and debating on whether to finish a couple of those or build something new as the US Nationals is only a month away. Ta for now.

Re: Phil's Bench is back.
Great work here, Phil with a variety of interesting subjects - for instance I didn't know that Italeri ever did a kit of the Statue of Liberty! (I've been lucky enough to visit NYC and saw her in the flesh as it were) - and rounded off with a couple of superb dive bombers.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Someone has been a busy boy. Very nice builds.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: Phil's Bench is back.
