The paint on the DrI, it's amazing!
Bravissimo. :)
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

Just catching up on your builds. Great work as usual. The Snip does look especially good, and the streaky finish on the Dr 1's is very impressive.

Thanks all. Much appreciated, although I'm still red faced over the Snipe's ailerons.

Tidying the desk again, by getting on with the Pavla Tiggy (RAAF markings, eventually) and an old Airfix DH4. The latter will need a severe matting down. The real things were more likely fairly glossy, but having left those terrible ribs I'm hoping matt will tone them down a bit. As I said earlier though, I'm not too fussed, just filling a gap by building something I seem to have overlooked when younger. I've a Pegasus kit to do as a proper model, this is more of a hang-it-from-the-ceiling thing, as is the Tiggy.

Still need to find a suitable observer to stuff in the rear DH4 void. I've a choice of spare Scarff rings and Lewis guns for him to perch within.

Cheers, Paul.

The Tiger and DH4 look fine to me Paul and feature some decent rigging, although it has to be said that the ribs on the DH are not all that pretty!

I suppose the ribs (rib tapes really, I think) were perpetrated by the same genius who did the wings of the HP 0/400. I've sanded a set off once for a DH9 conversion, but the plastic was very hard, so it was less than amusing.

Here's the Pavla take on the Tiger Moth. The fin flash transfers were far too large, but lacking documentary evidence I left them as is.

The odd thing about this kit is that the box says PE included, which it isn't. Okay, worse things happen at sea, but I wonder if it was planned and then cut for some reason. The likely candidates for PE treatment are totally missing - most annoyingly, control horns, seat harness, and pitot. There's also no attempt to represent the Handley Page slot actuator fairings under the top wing, which AZ attempt (badly) in PE in their Hawker biplane kits, (although I'd have thought the Pavla technology was up to the task in plastic or resin).

Otherwise, a nice enough limited run kit, well superceded by the new Airfix kit (and not that much better than the old Aeroclub kit IMO).

Nice one and very nicely rigged too. Pity about the lack of the promised PE as there could well have been some handy parts there, most annoying! Still, the finished article looks great.

Thanks again. The Tiggy was coated with Humbrol trainer yellow, then I got bored and switched to Xtracrylix trainer yellow for the top coat.

Finally finished the DH4. Could do with a couple of windshields, but I forgot. Ho hum. Also forgot to add bungees to the Scarff ring. Sometimes life's just too short........

Hi Paul,

Both Bipes look super! Specially love the yellow Moth!
(the rigging on the Dh4 must have been good fun to do...?)

Cheers!

Very nice, Paul. Your rigging looks so neatly done. It adds much to the final look.
Really nothing pithy to say.

Great work there. I've been trying to find a DH4 at a sensible price for a while but they seem to be as common as hens teeth.

It's been a while.................... this thing looks unlikely to be completely done by Telford, but I still have hopes. Anyway, thought I'd post a shot or two in case it doesn't survive the journey. HMS Furious, 1918. 1/700th scale resin kit by Loose Canon. Still a bevy of cage aerials to do. My first ship kit in decades, and first ever in resin. Gulp!

This is one of the Sopwith Pups. Don't think I'll bother rigging it (pretty sure I can't)..........

Looks very nice indeed! Where will it and you be at SMW? Be sure to check out the CBK SIG table and say hello.

Hi James,

It and me'll be lurking at the GWSIG table, (conveniently placed by the Airfix bit). I'll pop by.
