You've done a terrific job with the old Hurricane kit David. Very impressive 8-)

Great work with that classic Airfix Hurricane, David, it really has turned out very nicely.

Lovely looking Hurricane SP, although I kinda miss the sidewinders now
Best wishes

Esci 1/72 Harrier being test fitted:

Image

A few sink holes filled and some odd humps of styrene along join edges in the cockpit have been shaved off and smoothed over.
Pavla resin seat is ready for installation later.

It's a long time since I've built a Harrier. Plenty more in the stash, including 1/48.

A nice classic Harrier kit in the building there David. Looks like there will be a fair bit of classic filling and/or sanding required for some of the many joins but such are the joys of building classics.

Old Hurri is a beauty. I think you done maximum from this kit. SHAR from Esci is coming along nicely as well.

Excellent work David. The last time I built an Esci kit was years ago, in fact I had loads of hair then and I was wearing flared jeans. It was a 1/48 F-100 Super Sabre. Luckily I managed to pick one up at a show a few years back but I think I will add it to my build list. Looking at you photo of your Harrier I forgot how good the detail was on their kits.
Cheers
Ian

Thanks, Ian.
I have one of the Esci F-100s in my stash! Hopefully, one day....
Meanwhile, the Italeri F-4F is done, awaiting a photo session.
And the Esci Harrier is coming together:

Image

I have highlighted a weirdly-placed ejector pin mark (which is overlaid with fine panel lines on the outside!), and the inset speedbrake bay which is installed as a separate part, and may need reinforcing from within before the fuselage is closed up. Unusual kit componentry. Let's see how it works out. These oddities are surprising alongside the crisp moulding elsewhere.

Thanks for looking,

The 1/48th Airfix Sea Harrier that I am building is devoid of any detail in the airbrake bay, which is a poor effort for the scale IMHO. Points scored by Esci here for at least giving the modeller something and in the gentleman's scale too!

Since I hacked around in the cockpit area to fit the resin seat, I have to tidy up the view from below. So a very basic nosewheel bay is going in, to hide the rear view of the seat!

Image

Esci does provide a slight concession towards the open auxiliary intake doors, but the thickness of the plastic allows me to increase the droop as may be seen on the one on the left, above.

cheers,

David

Great work on the Phantom and Hurricane. I always thought the Hurricane gets under-rated in the looks department. It seems so take a back seat to the Spitfire (not taking anything away from the Spitfire) but it really is a great aircraft.

Ahh the Esci Harrier. You are doing some fine work in the cockpit. I will look forward to this build. I have this kit in the stash from years and years ago. I keep bringing it out and looking at the parts, then putting it away. Maybe it is time to stop putting it away.

Nice ones David.

Thanks, Paul,

The Esci Harrier looks great in the box, but it does have all those sink holes, lots of little bits of flash, and odd bits of 'swollen' blemishes along some edges - these must be removed as part of seam filling.
The AV-8A kit does not include SNEB pods so I have lined up my spares. You may recognise some golden oldies in there!

Image

What a wide choice! I have plumped for those 2nd from the right - they came from the Revell Hunter kit.
Looking ahead...now how to mask the fuselage under that anhedral wing for airbrushing? I can't remember how I did it last time!

cheers,

I'm glad you are still pushing on with the Harrier, David. As for masking the fuselage, might it be easier to paint the wing underside colour first and mask that?
