Looking good
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Hi David, you are doing a fantastic job in the Hurricane, this, confirm that if the base is aceptable, a good modeller can made excellent kits from almost anything!
Amazing work on the Phantom, but probably Phantom pilot must do straffing missions by now!

The Hurricane suits the sidewinders!
Best wishes
Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Great builds David
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
Thanks; I am glad you appreciate my projects!
The Phantom has gone back to the bench for a dose of 'ultra-toning' which will attempt to subtly reveal some of the underlying rib structure. I did a bit of this on the recent B-58.
The process takes a few days.
I though I was finished! The Hurricane may overtake the Phantom now.
Work has commenced on the old Esci 1/72 AV-8A to be built as a RAF Harrier GR.1. This looks very smart in the box. However the tiny cockpit space needs opening up to fit a Pavla resin seat.
Some of the rear bulkhead carved out on one side. The same will be necessary on the opposite side.
Fortunately the intake trunking parts behind the cockpit are not affected.
This old kit in the stash has suppressed my urge to buy the new Airfix kit, which I am sure is better engineered.
cheers,
David

Great to see the old Airfix Hurricane built and you've done a lovely job of it.

Re: Skypirate's Hideaway
A couple of crackers there David, and that Hurri with sidewinders does look the part!
....wonder how a Mossie with a couple of Paveways under the wings would look
Addendum
.........actually, when I was a wee laddie, I wanted to write and illustrate Commando books and with the Books & comics GB, that thought has occurred to me again recently.
Just thinking a plot aloud here, - for some as yet unspecified reason a motley selection of flying WW2 legend aircraft are the last defence against a bunch of pirates/ terrorists and their evil plans, and they have to be hastily modified to carry modern ordnance ......hmmmm! (this is supposed to be a thoughtful face)

you might find that is a common dream among aviation-minded boys brought up on Commando and Air Ace comics!
cheers,

Sounds like the idea for a what-if GB I had a while back.skypirate wrote:Thanks, PT,Purplethistle wrote:....wonder how a Mossie with a couple of Paveways under the wings would look

"What aircraft from History would you put back into production to fill roles in a modern airforce?"
So a New build Hawker Typhoon with modern weapons to fulfil the RAF's new COIN requirement, or F-100's For the new Iraqi Airforce etc. - you get the idea.
Anyway - Great looking builds SP!
