Thanks! No masking; painted by hand (2 colours plus matt coat), and tidied up with a toothpick!
Woohoo! Still got it! (so far)

Cheers,

David
Nicely done! I built that kit, and afterwards, decided I would never build another, so I didn't have to deal with the canopy. Then Airfix released their new tool 1/72 Stuka, and I think it has a worse canopy to deal with.

I better buy a new box of toothpicks!

The P-47 is all together now, apart from the canopy. Some weathering done.

When that weathering is properly cured, I will apply oil stains and smoke exhaust here and there. Meanwhile I can tackle the canopy.

Thanks for looking,

David

Thanks, chaps. Looks like I will finish the P-47 - the last completion for 2017, making 11 in total. A few of those would have been started before 2017, and I was away from home for about 7 weeks in my first full year of retirement, so that is not bad at all for me! I used to knock out around 6 per year.

After much deliberation, I have chosen the next in my series of 1/72 Bf-109s. It will be a G-4 of JG 77 in Tunisia, 1943. The aim is to demonstrate the wildly varied camouflage schemes that these aircraft bore. I will use the AZ Models G-2 kit; my first use of an AZ 109.

And I will consider a model that will fit one of the UAMF SIG tables at Telford 2018; perhaps a model that I can leave in the UK.

Merry Xmas to all! Best wishes for a safe and productive holiday season - may Santa stuff your chimney full of goodies!

I've always had a soft-spot for the P-47 and you've done the old Jug proud!

Will be looking forward to final roll-out!

The Hasegawa Jug is about to be rolled out on the Aviation Modelling pages.
I have already returned to the Airfix VC10 and my secret what-if project! (Masking of the Airfix Gnat T.1 has been scaring me off that project).

Happy New Year everyone!

I love the weathering you put on the jug. That looks perfect for 1/72 scale.

I have masked the tricky cheat line on the VC10 and airbrushed the Light Aircraft Grey wings and undersides.
I have finally run out of Xtracolour LAG and turned to Humbrol satin 166. I am not happy with the way the paint airbrushes on completely matt (thinned with lacquer thinner).
I miss my gloss Xtracolour!

Cheers,

David

Major painting on the VC10 is now completed.

Many coats of Pledge will be required to match the grey to the gloss white top.
I am working up the courage to check the fit of the cheatline decal against my masking!

Cheers,

David
