Re: Random Vandalism
Many years back I started a Golden Era aircraft mobile to hang over the cot and to "get rid of" my 1/48 kits. This is back on the bench. Gee Bee, avia BH11 (white), Curtiss Racer, some kind of Ansaldo.

Humbrol gloss colours are the pits! After this model I will be looking to gradually replace them all with matt acrylics and Klear....

Re: Random Vandalism
That's a lovely collection to finish! Will follow your Golden Era to the finish line.
Your Hughes look great as well.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to being able to hang the mobile above his cot at last.Prisca wrote:That's a lovely collection to finish! Will follow you Golden Era to the finish line.

His older sisters managed to snap a rotor blade off already by playing with it when they knew it was off limits
You should have heard the little guy going off at them!! He's only 2 but he lacks nothing in ferocity or volume! Or eloquence for that matter!
"NO! Naughty! You don't play my helicopter! You naughty! You broke it! Naughty! Don't break my helicopter 'gain!"
Some CA should set it right.

I suspect our respective navies will be recruiting powder monkeys in the near future.

Re: Random Vandalism
Certainly worth considering.....
Though I think they've learned their lesson. An enraged little brother who also had to be physically restrained before he hit one of them seems to have got the message across that the models are to be left alone ;)
It also made him realise they can be broken, which should stop him trying to play with any others in future. I was having a hard time before convincing him they are display items only...
All told, not a bad lesson for all at the cost of a single rotor blade repair job

Avia BH 11 masked for some decorative patterning and partly painted,

Re: Random Vandalism
Avia completed, along with the rest of the set
View here: http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5105;
Also discovered that local RC-specialist hobby shop (a) is still open when I thought it had closed a year ago (WOO! ) and (b) stocks modelling basics like zip-kicker and currently, cheap Gunze paints (double WOO! )
Also managed to source elastic invisible thread from the local haberdashers, so let the en-riggening begin!

Re: Random Vandalism
Part of my long break from models was moving to a new flat with nowhere to put a workbench.
Having to do much of my construction on the couch with my leg elevated I've come up with a small portable workspace. It's working well so far
Space has been made on the only set of shelves in the living room for models and equipment, (mostly) out of reach of a toddler....
Modelling can now proceed more smoothly.
The Vickers Vandal (Walrus) was inherited from my nephew about 70% complete. It's now completed and sitting with the Biggles books where it belongs.
Airfix Tiger Moth next in line to be finished as G-ACDJ, which I found out very tragically crashed in 2005 killing pilot and passenger .
After that, about another 7 or 8 semi-finished projects to get through before I allow myself to open any new kits. Honest!.....

Re: Random Vandalism
In the last blitz I made a Frog Proctor as some may recall. I intended to put custom POLICE decals on to make it a Biggles build - the Special Air Police Proctor but the decals self-destructed.
I finally got around to printing and applying new ones. Scrubbed up alright, especially next to the 1/72 police Wolseley I found
