Cheers VV, on this thread alone we have had four probable and two possible 'biggles GB' builders

Love Biggles, and still have a few books with me. Maybe you can help me with a nagging memory I have of a book where Biggles and the baddies all fly fictional aircraft with names like 'McDougal J45' :???: etc., and in a "dog-fight' Biggles throws a large can of corned beef (or something!) and hits the other plane causing it to crash! Would love to know if you remember this and maybe you even have the book?

Cheers!

Biggles Flies North.
Algy, leaning out of the side window of the "Bluewing Jupiter" hurls a crate of corned beef at the bad guys' "Weinkel Transport" (which had just shot down Wilks' "Rockheed Freighter"), shattering its mainspar and sending it into the floor.
http://www.biggles.info/Details/18/;
I own a copy, in an omnibus though, not on its own.

I built a Weinkel (using a HE70 kit) a while back. I'm currently working on both the Rockheed and the Jupiter.

David, I'll redo the GB thread with a poll at some stage in the soonish.
Ha ha! Thanks for that! So now I know I wasn't imagining it all! :-D Loved the models you have done, specially the Proctor, and thanks for the 'Biggles Books' site link too! Should dig out my surviving books and read them again... :???:

Cheers!

5 I'd be up for it. I love Biggles, Just finished'...in Spain' and am reading '...defends the desert.

I quite fancy doing a Goslin in SEAC camo and Z sqn markings, or how about a Desert Camo Defiant with a Volkes filter!...

Or something... :)

Great! Now I need to work out when in the year would work for me if I were to be GBL, then I can put up a poll with some options.

Ok chaps,

Poll's up.

Also, tomorrow I'll post up a thread in Aviation Modelling with the latest Biggles build. It hasn't appeared anywhere yet but it is one of the aircraft I mentioned a few posts back ;-) . Just waiting for the Krystal klear windows to cure fully.

Haven't posted in here in a while, but I thought it worth an update. The Vickers Amphibian "Condor" is the Lord of the Bench right now. This one was entered in the Getting Things Done GB but didn't..er...get done

I'm determined to clear it out this month!
I need to start telling Biggles and the Cruise of the Condor to my little guy (5yo), who demands Biggles stories at bed time every night (with props for the aerial scenes), so this one needs to be ready!

If you're wondering why Algy appears to be abandoning ship, it's for a diorama:

Getting the engine pod on was hellish. I had to scratchbuild struts and then convince the pod to levitate while I attached them. Don't ask....

Anyway, the worst of construction is over. Rigging is the only other roadblock remaining.

It's a fun book, for sure.

Rigging - a whole lot of not fun.

Well worth an update VV, that is a great looking build but I can imagine the difficulties! I remember the "Getting Things Done" GB as the two builds that I entered didn't finally get finished until weeks afterwards. Ho hum!

The GTB GB didn't necessarily live up to its name for either of us...

Just a peek at the current bench work. Finishing off a DNF from the Flying Boats GB and nearly done on the Condor biplane amphib.

Also a resin Miles Falcon for a GB I'm running on the Biggles forum:

Bit of a pig, fit-wise.

Indeed there is - I finished the Condor!

I need to take some decent photos and then I can post them up.

The Falcon has been painted and decalled and now just needs the canopy on and details finished - e.g. wheels, prop.
The Sikorsky Flying boat is in a similar state.

It's the start of the holidays so most of today was spent building, apart from trips to coffee shops and the beach ( :ha: :ha: to you lot in the Northern Hemisphere)
