The Airfix 504 is quite a reasonable kit for its age. Great work on the interiors, there isn't a great deal that can be seen but what you have so far will make the cockpits look so much better than OOB.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks Iggie, Shaun. I don't want to go crazy on it, but I want it to look at least somewhat like a real cockpit when you look in.

Also on the bench (such as a "bench" even exists for me) is a 1/24 TE27 Corolla:

Nice work going on here. The Corolla is looking very '70s in that orange, and you're using my spray paint of choice, picked up 4 cans for $10 last time

Yeah, that Supercheap sale before Christmas. I picked up 8 cans. Stoked! 8-)
That one is actually the flat white. The orange was a different brand. Went on very nicely.

I grabbed a can of buff/tan today for WW1 linen and undercoating for yellows.

Thanks. It could only be orange 8-)

My wing jig turned up yesterday from Unique Master Models USA. Beautifully made thing. Took some doing to assemble it all. Should hopefully pick up the pace on the backlog of biplanes now.

Great job on the 1970s Toyota VV 8-)

What are you going to use for the rust? ;-)

Heh
That's why I haven't owned a 1970s car for the last few years - I got tired of rust problems at annual registration time.

I did consider doing some weathering on it to make it look like one of my old thrashbarges with rust bubbling through, but opted for a less fussy build instead to have something looking more like this:

Got a pair of Avro 504s on the go. One Airfix, one Amodel. Both are pretty low quality. The Amodel has clearly "borrowed" a lot from the Airfix in the kit design....

Neither had much cockpit to speak of so a bit of scratchbuilding has gone on.

Image

Lots of ejector pin marks to fill and ribs to sand down. The struts on both have that crosspiece that old Airfix kits used, which recesses into the wing (but never well). I've filled those grooves too.

Currently at this point

Double rigging lines with elastic EZ line is doing my head in!
I'm trying a new approach now by pre-gluing lengths of line to a fine piece of wire at each end to the right spacing. The small stub of wire will then be glued to the rigging mount points. We'll see if it works...

They're coming along nicely - that cockpit looks great.

Thanks, Sir T. They haven't progressed much further apart from some filling, sanding, priming, more filling, more sanding, more priming...

The Strutters have had more attention. One of the outboard struts went missing from one, so I needed to make a replacement. I want to get the top wing mounted so I can adjust the jig for the Avros.

My back and neck have been a mess lately, due in part to bending over models while rigging or aligning them. I got sick of this so I cut my workmat and mounted it on the top of my paint/tool drawers so now it sits closer to face height. I then have a small space on the table if I need it for cutting or other activities. Huge improvement! Back and neck pain has reduced greatly.

Ha!

In this case things are actually going well. Must be because I'm not rushing it for once. Also, the benefits of the elevated workspace cannot be over-stated!

The strutters are both winged and rigged so now the jig can be given over to Avro duties.

http://www.bigglesforum.net/forum/galle ... ge_id=1803;

By the way, not sure if you're rigging your Strutter with elastic thread but if so, I can strongly recommend the method I've been using for the double rigging. It has worked as well as I had hoped, if not better

Nice one VV, that jig is certainly a handy looking tool and that is an excellent tip for double wires in what I presume is 1/72nd scale.
