That's a technique I need to practice! Never would have thought of that. What a time saver and no brush marks to boot!

What a catch :ha:
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Coming along nicely in all cases - especially struck with La Haye. Don't forget to model the small angry farmer who threatens tourists if you're going for complete accuracy :)

Thanks for the replies gents. The 109 gets some blue and yellow added

Image

And although I've fallen out of love with this, it too got some paint on

Started the topsides of the 109

And Mr. Heinkels bottom

Haven't even attempted any canopy masking with this yet. I have a cunning plan I'm going to experiment with 8-)

Looks good Nigel!

I'll be interested to see this cunning plan to mask the glazing on the 111. I've been wanting to do one myself, but have shied away from it because of that very reason.

Easy enough to do with a brush and a sharp cocktail stick, not something I'd like to try with an airbrush!

They both look great Nigel!

keep up the good work :)
...yeah, I shy away from planes with lots of canopy framing, too!
For example, I´d like to do an Aichi D3A Val, but just remembering those canopy frames, makes me leave her in the stash pile

Haven't given the glazing a go yet. Got the lower wing decals on

Image

And the second colour goes on the top of the 109

Image

Hard to see but it is on there :) A second coat tomorrow should have it finished. I'll do the fuselage mottling using the sponge dabbing technique. The next victim appears on the bench

First stages of construction. Just the cockpit and instrument panel glued to one half

Thank you Sir T. The Spitfire does seem ok, a dry fit shows no real problems. Two schemes provided. I've already built WZ T in the Airfix offering, so this will be KL B.
Here's the 109 after a second coat of green and an unmasking

Pretty pleased with that  Now to steel myself for some mottling :-|

Nice one, Nigel, that Gustav is coming together nicely. Mottling 1/72nd Luftwaffe fighters is not one of life's great pleasures IMHO - instead of airbrush, sponge or paint brush, I usually use the avoidance technique when it comes to mottling in scales under 1/48th and it's very easy to do, saves hours in fact :ha:
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Looking good Nigel. Strange but having seen your latest work it reminded me of the film Dunkirk. If you haven't seen it yet Nigel I would highly recommend it especially the Imax version. Anyway keep up the great work mate.
Cheers
Ian
