Fearless Frankie's Foibles

Post by fearless frankie »

Well I suppose its about time to show you guys and gals some of my attempts at our beloved hobby.
This little nightmare has been stood around for a couple of months whilst I tried to find enthusiasm to get up and running again, well I found some in a corner this morning and after an hour with this the bloody carpet monster snatched it back.
Although I have not bored you to tears with photos of the inept built,I shall try and paint you a picture of words.
Cockpit decorated with seats made from Coke can and masking tape seat belts.
Vents and exhaust Albion alloys (love there stuff)
Float strutts as above with rigging from old decorators brush.
Ariel wire from fishing line(require a bit of heat to tension)

Was going to finish it wheels down, but after cleaning up the parts and on to the installation stage, thinking "what the ****" I'm not scratch building any more of this,so I smacked the wheels in and called it a day.
For all you others building this as well "thanks for the inspiration"
For all that bother to view or comment "Thank You"
On the bench next is a Revell F-89 Scorpion.Hold your breath.

I would never come up with the useful idea of how to recycle part a coke can!
I think it looks pretty good.
I've not attempted a fly boat yet, they take up so much space. Is this 1/72?

Looking forward to the Scorpion, a plane I don't think I've seen built before.
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

1/72 very small and compact, one of Airfix original series 1, put it on par with your Maruder as it will take some cutting ,filling and sanding.

We like inept build pictures! We need to see things like seats made from coke cans. Never built the scorpian but that must be a tiny kit.

F-89 was comparison to an twin engine bomber and quite potent as an weapons carrier. Well worth a search on wiki

I can appreciate from my current build, just how much work went into getting the Widgeon into something resembling the real thing :)

If it's any consolation, my Revell P-38 was worse

Cheers "mate" got a Revell P-38 in the stash, just when you thought nothing could be worse than the Airfix/Humbol version. (beware the toothpicks)

Main thing is, watch the canopy fit, and the nose fit, and the gun panels fit, and the tail boom alignment, and the cockpit tub... You get the idea. Also don't do it in NMF  I tried... A nice matt olive drab would hide lots of seams, holes and ill fitting bits quaint features of this charming bijou kit. Replacing the nose guns with toothpicks would make a lot of sense, come to think about it.

I've got an old Frog P-38, so I'm going to put the nice Revell decals on that!

The Widgeon/Gosling is positively enjoyable in comparison

cheers

If you find yourself enjoying the Revell kit send me your address and I'll mail you a hammer you can bash yourself over the head with. I didn't listen to Andrew's advice and bought one of those monsters. It made me very sad.

Don't do it! Put the P-38 on Ebay.
The -89 is looking good. Will it be silver? And I know what you mean about the Raptor. But with some work it resemble the F-22.....
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....

The F-89 is looking very nice.

Trust me, the P-38 should be put quietly out to pasture on eBay. :-D
There are much easier ways of building a nice P-38. Scratch building, for instance...
Or virtually anyone else's kit!

Cheers

F-89 nice and shiney silver and red.
The masochistic side is saying clear the benches and see what all the fuss is about. It's meant for children ages 8 and above!

My bad! I thought you meant a Scorpian tank  Talking Lightnings the Academy is a little gem which unfortunately comes with Academy decals. So buy the Academy kit and use the Revell decals. Then find somebody you really don´t like and give them the Revell kit with the Academy decals.
