Paul's Work Corner: The Sequel

Post by IrishAir »

About time I post my Workbench here isn't it?

Same workbench as before, an old chest of drawers.

Image

Here you can see my two current projects, an airfix Boulton Paul Defiant and the club package MiG 15 which is still getting its camo applied. The Defiant wasn't as bad as I thought, although I broke the guns, the tailwheel and a radio mast. One thing that strike me about it though is the nose is too thin for the prop assembly.

Image

You can see here my preferred choice of paint, all by brush of course. Although not liked by many I find they are better for novices.

Cheers,
Paul

I think the Humbrol acrylics get a bad press because of the stuff in the gift sets. The paint in the P47 starter set was actually very good, which offset the deplorable red gloss in the Red Arrows Gnat set.
What's next up on the bench?

that humbrol paint is strange stuff ive found....ok for hairy stick brushing, lousy for air brushing

Good stuff. I think it's been some time since we've seen a Lancaster build. Looking forward to it

Great looking Spits! And Hurri as well. I must say I can't wait to see the Lanc come together. A Lancaster is on my to do list, but I'm waiting until I have a decent airbrush before I attempt one. So watching yours come together will make up for it someway

Made some progress on the Lancaster,
I decided to start with the bomb bay,

First the main parts were assembled,

Then it was given 2 coats of matt black and a drybrushing of alluminium to brings out the frame lines.

Image

The bombs were assembled and painted Olive drab (Hu 86) and then attached to the hardpoints.

Next up will be the turrets,

Cheers,
Paul

Coming along nicely Paul,

I will be keeping a tab on this as I would like to attempt the lancaster myself.
