Cheers Toby, it doesn't really bare up to close inspection but it does look quite good on the shelf... from the other side of the room!

Thank you for highlighting the Humbrol clear issues as I'm trying to stock up on modeling kit, and with money being a bit of an issue at present I need all the advice I can get to try and get it right first time.
No worries... that was one of my first models after getting back in to it. It wasn't a bad kit from what i remember, if you get one just watch out for the nose decal.

I've pretty much given up on Humbrol Clear and use bog standard Pledge multi surface wax from the supermarket. It's LOADS cheaper and does a great job. You'll need to a a few more coats than Humbrol but that's no bad thing. Just make sure you get the bottle labeled "formally known as Klear"

After finishing my last two models, which dragged on and on and on, I've made rapid progress on my next one. So fast in fact that i haven't been taking photos.

It a Revell boxed Matchbox made Blackburn Buccaneer in Gulf War colours. My main aim with this one was to test out pre-shading and I'm really pleased with the results!

I'm not so pleased with the canopy.... again.

Canopies have always been a pain in the butt for me too Blueberry.

But that's a superb paint job you're getting at there. That would awesome under a satin varnish.

Thanks Blohm and long time no see! I'm not sure what the problem is... in terms of the residue on the canopy. I think it's got something to do with dipping it in humbrol clear before masking (once it's dry). Next time i won't do that stage. Although it does make it look really nice, if it doesn't ruin it first!

Thanks, i'm really pleased with it. Although i think it's got more to do with the paint then me!

And here she is finished! The gulf war scheme makes the decal stage very easy indeed.

There's not much sadder then an empty bench...

ImageIMG_20150707_202507 by Blueberryruby, on Flickr

...and what's even sadder is that Mrs Blueberry and I have to move out for a couple of months and so the bench is going to stay like this until mid September.

Great work on the Buccaneer, that pre shade really shows through. Sad news about the bench though, bring it back better than ever

Nice work on the Brick. Pre-shading looks nice and subtle. Well done.

That Bucc looks great BB. The empty bench less so (although it is a nice looking work space). Hopefully you will be able to get on with more projects soon after your return.

Hi everyone,

We moved back in to our house on Friday and the very first thing i did was re-instate the workbench!

Image

I've decided to christen it with an Airfix Tornado F.3.

ImageIMG_20150822_100058 by Blueberryruby, on Flickr

The model is pretty old with risen panel lines and a whole load of flash

ImageIMG_20150822_100133 by Blueberryruby, on Flickr

But at least it divides the fuselage the right way. I prefer it split like this rather than down the middle!

ImageIMG_20150822_100110 by Blueberryruby, on Flickr

Taking inspiration from ShaunW i hacked off the flaps and slats to re-position them and give the model a bit more interest. I re-used the flaps (ailerons?) and made new slats from plasticard.
