Toby's table top turmoil
Re: Toby's table top turmoil
Really liked watching the Stearman build. It's a stunner!
Great work on the Siemens Schuckert D.III as well. The engine has a lovely finish on it.

Re: Toby's table top turmoil
Thanks all
The prop is now done.
First I painted on Vallejo natural wood.
The I did a topcoat of Vallejo woodgrain
I then masked it and repainted with natural wood
To finish I did a top coat of a mix of woodgrain and transparent orange
There are some blemishes but then wood has blemishes so that's my excuse for them.

Really like the wood colours. Neat technique that I will have to try. Thanks for sharing Toby.

Great work with the prop. Can't see any steps between paint coats. Well done.

Wow Toby! Been looking back at your work, it is inspirational and I am certainly filing away some of your techniques. Great stuff.

Re: Toby's table top turmoil
Thanks chaps. Away for a few days in Devon and Cornwall sampling the local delights
In the meantime here's an update. Fitted the gauge between the MGs
Hopefully got a close match with UK intermediate blue by Vallejo
Fitted the controls. Not as difficult as I thought although one of the levers was broken and had to be reglued. Couldn't quite get it straight but it won't show..I hope

All very good progress Toby and you really have got that wood effect off to a tee IMHO.

Re: Toby's table top turmoil
I'm enjoying this build immensely; some really good techniques in use and loads to learn from. Cracking job!
Best wishes
