I cannot multi task. Both models I've been making have gone to pot. Time to revert to the one kit at a time policy.

Noo! So sorry to hear that.
Can't you put them away (I assume 'gone to pot' means the bin?) and start on something else? Then after a while drag take out one of them and slowly continue?

Not totally gone to pot in the literal sense but just not going well. Anyway here is the G55 as it stands so far.
I used Vallejo black green but will try some other shades before finally deciding on which one looks the best.
The grey was Ocean grey but there again I'm going to try some others before taking the plunge.

This will now go on the back burner whilst I finish the T34.

I am using this a test bed for weathering/detailing etc and after market accessories I bought will go on the other 3 Armourfast T34s I've got.
I'm off to the Tank Museum at Bovington to do some walk around photography for AFVs followed by the Fleet Air Arm museum the next day for the same purpose.
I've added some grab handles made from .3mm plastic rod which I'm getting the hang of fixing but will be a lot more accurate with the next batch on T34s.............I hope :mrgreen:

Hopefully sanity will return to my turbulent existence. Failing that I can see a trip to the pub coming on. ;-)

Me too hate vac-canopies!
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

I have given up on the FIAT. The kit is not worth the money imo. The instructions are all over the place. The vac canopy is a nightmare to work with and the resin parts are unnecessary(why not mould them in plastic like the rest of the kit? :evil:) and very difficult to cut off the sprues resulting in bits everywhere. I have another 6 or so Special Hobby kits and if they're anything like this I'll be selling them. Someone will get a bargain as I will probably just want shot of them. This is the first kit I've given up on since my return. had to happen sometime I guess.
So what next?
An academy 1/72 Sopwith Camel that's what. Can't be anymore difficult than the FIAT even with the rigging.
Btw if anyone wants the FIAT they're welcome to it. Just need to pay for the P&P.

Now I've got over the stigma of not finishing a model and people have stopped pointing at me in the street I've started work on the 1/72 Academy Sopwith Camel.
Fairly basic kit but I've started on drilling the holes for the rigging and added a small amount of cockpit detail.

I am using an electric screw driver that has made life a lot easier but it's best to shorten the drill bit as mush as possible to avoid any wobble that might occur.
Also I've found a site that specialises in WW1 paint as there's not a lot of info out there on the subject or at least not a lot that I can find.
http://modelskills.co.uk/23-misterkit-paint;
Next will be a dry fit run and find out what other holes have to be drilled. Frabulous joylode as Sir Stanley would've said :mrgreen:

This site is packed full of information

http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/;

WW1 paints tended to be made in batches to fairly imprecise recipes and so there are lots of variations in the colours, which also faded quickly.
Which means plenty of artistic licence :-D

Cheers

Thanks Andrew. I remember registering for that at the beginning of the year but forgot all about it. Looks jam packed with stuff.

Some rigging done on the wing braces.

Cockpit done and filler applied. Don't know why I feel so positive about this kit but after the not so Special Hobby FIAT even an Airfix Churchill would be a joy. Well maybe not :lol:
