Paddys workbench 2023

Post by PTB11 »

Time to get building again.
Instead of starting another new project, I've decided to resurrect something from last year
Tonight I got the basic olive drab colours on my Tamiya M5A1 light tank. Next is the gloss coat and decals:

Not a lot to report, but at least things are moving again

Nice to see you back Paddy :)

Your figures look very neat indeed, as does the tank 8-)
Best wishes

That looks very nice. Is that track around the turret?

Your terrific tank looks like it's almost ready for action!

I like the paint work.

Thanks for looking and the kind comments, guys.

Yes Nigel. But strangely its a different pattern than the rubber band ones that come with the kit.

The construction is pretty much complete, as is the weathering. Just some metalizing and pigments to add.

The bars on the side of the turret were essentially snow-cleats, which the crew could attach to the tracks. I think they were called grousers.

Did you scratch-build the periscope brush guards? I don't remember those being in the kit. Of course, I built one 20+ years ago :)

Thanks for the info on the grousers. Makes sense now.

The brush guards were 3D printed by Shapeways. They look far better than the PE ones.
