It's an unfortunate feature and one that the modeller has little choice but to live with  .

It's a Revell rebox of a Heller kit. I don't know what Heller's designers were thinking of with the bi-directional sails.

It must be a Gallic thing.

All the better to turn around quick and run away perhaps? ;-)

THIS WEEK I HAVE MOSTLY BEEN ......

Image

.....BUILDING ME SWORDFISH.

And, doing a bit to my Mig-21 too.

And here's a picture of the progress made.

Image

The Mig is still in the painting stage but progressing satisfactorily.

Progress with the Swordfish is really cracking along. I've started the rigging, both wings are done, and the torpedo and rear gun are attached. This one is on the final furlong and looks set to be my first finish of the year. :)

More words from the den soon.

Good looking Stringbag. Is that a Finnish flag on the top wing? The MiG Moujik is also looking better and better.

It's a squadron motif, quite common before WW2. The Swordfish represents one from HMS Courageous in 1939.

Quite a Swordfish! I also like the squadron motif a lot. Gives it a medieval look, knightly. Very fitting considering the name of the carrier :).

Thank you chaps. Your comments are very much appreciated.

The last couple of days have been mostly dedicated to the Mig, although the S6B has rolled (floated?) back on to the bench.

Image

The Mig is decaled and awaiting a matt varnish coat and the last few parts attached. Hopefully this will be finished soon.

The S6B, after a round of filling and sanding has had a coat of Halfords Grey Primer.

Revealing that it needs more filling and sanding.

Oh well, as an old Frog repop, from moulds that must be at least fourth hand, I didn't expect any different so it's not a problem :) .

I'm still happy building it because it's so pretty.

GOOD NEWS.

After a couple of sessions today...

The Mig-21UM is finished :) .

It's a great relief as it was becoming a bit of an obsession.

So that's two, count em, two finishes for Darryl in 2014 8-) .

And next to the bench is something I've been itching to start.

Image

The new, and quite delicious, Meng 1/32nd Messerchmitt Me 163 Komet.

It's all ready to go. I've even got the Barracuda Studios resin wheels for it.

More updates soon :)

The Mig looks good but I have to say that the Komet has got got my interest as it is on my list to get this year so I will be looking how your build progresses.
It's a lovely detailed kit and apparently not a difficult build providing care is taken during construction.
