Re: August's Toybox
Lovely work, the P-40 and the Beech look brilliant.
A nice little snippet of history too.

Re: August's Toybox
The Beech is turning out nicely, I wish I'd looked for this kit rather than picking up the PM one.

The Bugsmasher finally made it into the display case yesterday. The PVC glue windows are still milky after drying overnight. I hope they clear up!

Re: August's Toybox
The P40 is a delight, and some great background too
The Beech looks great as well; I've seen that RCAF flash on the Lancaster fuselage at Brooklands; it's a striking (pun intended folks ) livery for certain!

Re: August's Toybox
The Beech it's a beauty, well assembled and painted.
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

That is impressive work August.
You are in Scarsdale NY?
I'm in the city myself, you have a much better view of the world then my basement workshop!

Re: August's Toybox
I am swearing off January's group builds, even though I'd love to tackle a bomber, because after a generally pretty good 2014 for meeting GB deadlines, I've choked on three in the past couple of months. January will be devoted to getting caught up so I can join a couple of GBs with a clean workbench in February. Meanwhile I'll track my completion of the DNFs here.
The DNFs are the Monogram 1964 Ford Mustang from the Monogram build, the Fiddlers Green Travel Air Mystery Ship shrunk to 1/72 for the paper models build and the Hobbycraft CT-114 Tutor for the bright and cheery build. Here is about where they all stand at present.
I really thought that I would finish the Tutor on time. Painting proved to be the snag. I'm airbrushing acrylics, and after getting the first coat on, there were some seams still to work on. When sanding down the paint, typical of acrylics, it tended to come off in patches rather than being thinned gradually down as an enamel would. The patches still show in relief no matter how many coats of paint I apply on top of them. I'm now trying to figure out how to deal with it, short of stripping and repainting the entire fuselage.
