That is a great looking Corsair, those French Navy Suez markings really look good on it.
Thanks Shaun!

Revell Glue was what I used strangely enough! A Mike suggested, It went solid on the mains over night - I had to remove the nose again and re-attach - This time with CA.

I don't use CA much, but I do find it the best for things like U/C and weapons fitted post paint.

Hi All,

So here's a little update.

The Lightning F.3 for the Lightning SB has been finished (finish number two for this year!)

There's been a fair amount of progress on the Hawk...

Image

I had attached the canopy, but after Tony's comment I decided to remove it. I haven't done the full on SB work like Shaun, but I did take the time to repaint everything and add another pilot. They're a bit rough when viewed through macro, but now I have the canopy on they look a lot better.

Image

The Corsair DNF from the Suez GB is still in the decal stage.

That's all for now folks!

Regards

Stuart!

Great models on the go Stuart and the Lightning has turned out very nicely - in comparison I haven't finished anything yet this year! Looks to me like Matchbox made a better job of the centre console between the front and rear cockpits of their Hawk than Airfix did. Perhaps MB waited until the aircraft was in production before tooling their kit whilst Airfix based theirs on the prototype - I've had a fair amount of corrections to do.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

No way - there's nothing in the cockpit other than the seats. MB also based there's on the prototype from what I can tell from the boxart and marking options, which would explain the lack of Wing Fences and Strakes on the undersides..

I still love this kit thought :-D I think I may have to make a few more soon in various marking options, and update/modify them like you have. Thanks fully I do have 1/72 plans for the Hawk.

I think I'm being a little unkind to the Airfix kit as in some ways it is very good for its age as for instance there is some reasonable detail in the cockpit instead of the more usual pegs for the seats and there is detail in all of the undercarriage bays. I don't have plans for the aircraft so I can't say how accurate the Airfix kit is but the overall shape looks enough like a Hawk to satisfy me, it's just a case of adding the bits to make the finished model look more like a production aircraft.

It IS a good little kit I agree - It's not TOO far from the new tool I'd say. The MB kit is about the same - it LOOKS like a hawk and that's good enough for me. I should have added the strakes at least but I'll live with it for now and do it on the next one.

Hi All,

I thought it was about time I update my WW - as you can see there's not been a great deal of progress. The Hawk is now ready for its first clear coat and then decals - I'm really pleased with how this is turning out.
The Corsair I'm not so happy with - it's completed bar it's u/C and other bits painting etc. It's certainly a back of the shelf job.

Image

I've also started this kit - The Airfix 1/72 F-16A/B.

Image

It's going to be the subject of my 1st 'Classic' Kit review on my blog - which you're welcome to have a nose at if you like. (actualy I'd really appreciate some feedback on the blog if anyone has any)

Will be watching the "lawn dart" build. The Periguine Falcon tail logo from Michigan is a favorite of mine. Unfortunately it didn't last long . The 127th now uses MI on the tail.

I agree it does look good - alas I'll be doing the NY ANG for this build, I've wanted to do a Desert Storm F-16 for ages.

Love the Lightning in camouflage, I wish I had done mine like that instead of silver.
I am thinking about doing one in polished ally or even Chrome.
IF IT AINT BROKE DON'T FIX IT!
I love the smell of avgas in the morning!
