it's a lovely kit this - a really nice easy build. I'm not sure why I put it down - too many other ideas I guess.

As an aside, I've managed to fight off the impluse buys for over a week - I've had stuff in the basket but not ordered - I'm quite proud of that - I'm going to finish some wip first......

Loads of nice things here Stuart. The purple nose on the Mustang looks great.
Home made bread.....oh yeah!
Nice last pic too.

I've done a bit more to my 'stang! God I hate Tamiya decals though - just awful to work with!

It's looking really good. I've got the Tamiya Tuskegee Airmen Mustang waiting in the stash.

What's the problem with the Tamiya decals? They look like they've gone down well for you.

Thanks! The red tail should be fun!

They seem very thick and are very fragile - I've broken most of them and had to patch them together - they also take ages to come off the backing paper. Ok so I may have been spoilt with all these nice new airfix decals but I think I may buy AM decals for the rest of my Tamiya kits.

The star and bar on the wing was awful, It wrinkled really badly and I had to slice it and drown it in decalfix to get it around the raised details.

Mind you, its all a learning curve :)

I built this kit a few years ago Stuart in the 8th Air Force boxing and don't recall the decals being an issue. You've done a good job of patching them up though, that's a nice looking P-51 coming together there.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks Shaun! Yeah it may just be me, I'll have to see how the rest are - the kill markings just fell to bits though so perhaps it's a duff sheet.

I was bored at lunch so I just cracked open my Tamiya 1/48 F-51D 'Korean War' kit and painted the interior parts green. I'll paint up the pit a bit more over the weekend and post some pics when I get a chance.

I'm going to have to start a CBK too as penace for doing all these Tamiya kits :)

It's easy to get bored at work Stuart, I practice it all the time :ha: Good to see another one of these excellent Tamiya P-51s on the go. It really is a great kit of the aircraft and one of the best available in 1/48th IMHO.

Great looking Mustang Stu :)

I built the Korean War F-51 a few years ago and I still consider it the best kit I've ever had the pleasure to build.

But then you'll know how good it is already 8-)
